Influence of particle size polydispersity on coal dust explosibility

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2018
Abstract The effect of particle size polydispersity (σD) on coal dust explosibility was studied using a 20-L spherical explosion test apparatus. Four kinds of blends with a fixed median diameter (D50) of 95 μm but varying σD of 1.18, 1.70, 1.96 and 2.40, were prepared by mixing original coal samples with relative low σD.

Coal dust particle size survey of US mines

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2007
Abstract The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) conducted a joint survey to determine the range of coal particle sizes found in dust samples collected from intake airways of US coal mines. The last comprehensive survey of this type was performed in the 1920s.

Experimental research of particle size and size dispersity on the explosibility characteristics of coal dust

Powder Technology, 2016
Abstract In the present research work, the effects of particle size (D 50 ) and size dispersity (σ D ) on the explosion severity of coal dust were investigated using a 20 L spherical explosion vessel. Coal dust samples with similar median diameter (D 50 ) and different size dispersity (σ D ) and similar size dispersity (σ D ) and different size ...

Effects of particle size, dust concentration and dust-dispersion-air pressure on rock dust inertant requirement for coal dust explosion suppression in underground coal mines

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 2019
Abstract Coal dust explosion constitutes an ever-present hazard in underground coal mines worldwide. This study examines the effects of important parameters, such as, dust particle size, dust concentration and dust-dispersion-air pressure on rock dust inertant requirement for suppressing coal dust explosion using a Godbert-Greenwald (GG) furnace.

The influence of high-voltage and coal dust particle size distribution on dust collecting efficiency

2010 2nd International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems, 2010
The working efficiency of electrostatic precipitator can be affected by many factors, and the dust particle size is one of the important factors. The coal dust is used to subject investigated in this test, Dust particle size distribution is tested through experiment combining the theories foundation of the dust particle charge, and the relation between

Effects of particle size on the self-ignition behaviour of a coal dust layer on a hot plate

Fuel, 2020
Abstract Knowing the sizes of coal particles is vital for understanding the real ignition behaviour of coal dust deposits on a hot plate. Furthermore, such knowledge facilitates model construction for assessing industrial coal dust explosion risk. Three particle sizes (0.10–0.15, 0.15–0.20, and 0.20–0.30 mm) of coal samples were selected to analyse ...
