Coal Flotation with Nonionic Surfactants

Coal Preparation, 1995
Abstract The flotation response of two high-sulfur coals to a variety of collectors was studied in detail using a 2-liter Denver flotation cell. In comparison with dodecane as the standard oily collector, the introduction of a benzene ring into the oily collector can significantly improve its collecting ability for coal.

Picobubble Enhanced Fine Coal Flotation

Separation Science and Technology, 2006
Abstract Froth flotation is widely used in the coal industry to clean −28 mesh fine coal. A successful recovery of particles by flotation depends on efficient particle‐bubble collision and attachment with minimal subsequent particle detachment from bubble.

Desulfurization of coal by microbial column flotation

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1994
AbstractTwenty‐three strains capable of oxidizing iron were isolated from coal and ore storage sites as well as coal and ore mines, volcanic areas, and hot spring. Four strains were found to have high iron‐oxidizing activity. One strain (T‐4) was selected for this experiment since the strain showed the fastest leaching rate of iron and sulfate from ...

Effect of flotation reagent adsorption by different ultra-fine coal particles on coal flotation

International Journal of Mineral Processing, 2015
Abstract The impact of ultra-fine coal particles on the flotation of coarse coal particles is investigated in this work. Flotation experiments of three coal samples were conducted. The results showed that the recovery of coarse coal particles (> 74 μm) decreases when low-ash ultra-fine coal particles are added into coal samples, whereas the addition ...

Floc-flotation of ultrafine coal slimes achieved by flotation column

Energy Sources, Part A: Recovery, Utilization, and Environmental Effects, 2017
ABSTRACTIn this investigation, the floc-flotation performance of ultrafine coal slimes in the large-scale 5500 × 7000 mm cyclonic-static micro-bubble flotation column (FCSMC) was explored. A laser particle size analyzer was used to indicate the changes in particle size distribution with or without adding a flocculant.

Advances in coal flotation technology

2007
Poor results are generally achieved in the treatment of coal slimes using conventional methods. Since fine size fractions below 0.5 mm can together represent a significant portion of the plant’s feed, the development of suitable technologies for an efficient recovery of their fuel content can add a considerable contribution to the economic balance of ...

Column flotation of Coal Slurries

2006
Paper is concerning floatability of coal slurries by means of different flotation collectors. The goal of the work was verification of floatability of coal slurries as well as flotation collectors selectivity. The investigation was carried out in a column flotation.

Column flotation of bituminous coal

2008
The objective of the paper was a comparison of classical and column flotation on samples of black-coal slurries from selected localities of okr and poland. Namely they are dukla mine, darkov mine, csm mine, csa mine, doubrava mine and kleofas mine. The acquired results imply that the methods of classical and column flotation are suitable for flotation ...
