Design of separation system of coal and gangue based on X-ray and machine visio

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2017
In view of problems of low efficiency, environmental pollution and high cost existed in traditional coal and gangue separation method, a separation system of coal and gangue based on X-ray and machine vision was designed.

Control Mechanism of Pore Structure of Different Macroscopic Lithotypes on Gas Desorption Differences: A Case Study of High‐Rank Coal From the Western Ordos Basin

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study reveals the differentiated gas‐controlling mechanisms of different macroscopic coal lithotypes: semibright coal acts as the primary “gas storage core,” bright coal serves as the critical “seepage channel,” and dull coal functions

Moss Biocrusts Regulate Heavy Metal Speciation and Mobility in Coal Mine Soils

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT On a global scale, coal mining activities often lead to heavy metal(loid) contamination in soils of mine dump sites, posing serious ecological risks. As ecosystem “engineers,” biological soil crusts (biocrusts)—especially moss crust—have shown great potential in remediating heavy metal‐polluted soils, but their roles remain underexplored.

An improved tiny YOLO v3 rapid recognition model for coal-gangue

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2023
The traditional coal gangue sorting methods have low efficiency, significant safety hazards, and limited application scope. The existing machine vision-based coal gangue image recognition methods are difficult to balance model recognition speed and ...

Ecological Restoration of Degraded Mining Soils Through Key‐Layer Construction Using Industrial By‐Products: A Comprehensive Analysis of Soil Physics, Microbiology, and Maize Yield

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Coal mining severely degrades soil profiles and ecosystem functions, highlighting the need for effective reclamation. Reconstructing soil profiles with industrial solid wastes offers a promising waste‐to‐resource approach, but the ecological effects of different engineered key‐layer materials remain unclear.

On the academic ideology of “Sorting the gangue is sorting the images”

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
Coal gangue sorting is the most basic, effective, and important technical measure to improve coal quality. Improving the accuracy and efficiency of coal gangue sorting is a serious challenge faced by coal gangue sorting.

Influence of an Electromagnetic Field on Direct Reduction of Iron Oxide Using Hydrogen as a Reducing Agent

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study investigates the reduction of pure iron oxides and industrial iron ore using hydrogen gas as a reducing agent. Additionally, to determine whether the reduction process can be accelerated, electromagnetic fields of 50 Hz and 25 kHz were applied.

Barriers to Steel Decarbonization

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Main identified barriers to steel decarbonization Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are a leading contributor to global climate change, necessitating urgent mitigation strategies. While various metrics—such as total national emissions, per‐capita output, and historical contributions—define responsibility, determining accountability remains complex ...

Coal Gangue Target Detection Based on Improved YOLOv5s

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Coal gangue sorting is a necessary process in coal mine production, and removing gangue is the basis for the coal production of clean energy; it is also an important approach to reduce the cost of washing, improve the grade of finished coal and increase ...

Isothermal Reduction Behavior and Microstructural Evolution of Iron Ore Sinter Under Simulated Radial Blast Furnace Gas Atmospheres With Hydrogen Injection

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Commercial iron ore sinter is reduced isothermally under operation‐derived radial blast furnace gas atmospheres with and without 20 kg H2/tHM injection. Hydrogen improves reduction at 900–1100 °C, whereas at 700 °C the high H2O content limits the wüstite‐to‐iron driving force.
