The effect of thermal–hydro–mechanical coupling on grouting in a single fracture under coal mine flowing water conditions

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Higher temperature leads to a better relative sealing efficiency with a slow flow rate. Temperature change shows a negative correlation with the seepage pressure and the grouting pressure. The “equivalent grouting point offset” effect of grouting shows an eccentric elliptical propagation.

The local health impacts of natural resource booms

open access: yesHealth Economics, Volume 32, Issue 2, Page 462-500, February 2023., 2023
Abstract This paper uses novel micro‐data on natural resources and administrative health data in Brazil to study how economic booms in minerals affect health at birth. By implementing a reduced‐form estimation of shift‐share research designs, the identification strategy relies on the exogeneity of global commodity prices to municipality‐specific health

Stress analysis of crack characteristic of anthracite under dynamic loading

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
In this article, the dynamic compression test of anthracite under five strain rates is carried out, the evolution law of three kinds of crack characteristic stress is analyzed, and a prediction model of the crack characteristic stress threshold considering the strain rate effect is established. Then, the rationality of crack characteristic stress under

Regionalized chemical footprint method to identify aquatic ecotoxicity hotspots of hard disk drive rare‐earth magnets

open access: yesIntegrated Environmental Assessment and Management, Volume 19, Issue 1, Page 272-283, January 2023., 2023
Abstract The chemical footprint (ChF), which combines life cycle assessment (LCA) and quantitative risk assessment principles, shows promise for exploring localized toxicity impacts of manufacturing processes, which is not achievable with LCA alone. An updated ChF method was applied to the global annual production of a hard disk drive (HDD) rare‐earth ...

Study on impact mechanism and precursor information induced by high intensity mining [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
With heightened mining intensity, the incidence of coal bursts is escalating, necessitating advanced understanding and prediction techniques. This research delves into the intricacies of coal burst mechanisms, proposing a novel theoretical model for the release of coal mass energy founded on the tenets of stress superposition.

Slit tube responses and rock fracture characteristics in slit charge blasting under high in situ stress

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
In this article, the finite element method‐smoothed particle hydrodynamics adaptive coupling algorithm is applied to numerically simulate and analyze the dynamic response of the slit tube and the crack propagation under high in situ stress. The dynamic response of the slit tube mainly exhibits radial response in the vertical direction of the slit and ...
