Evaluation of the effect of hydraulic shear intensity on coal-slime water flocculation in a gradient fluidized bed

Powder Technology, 2020
Abstract Fluid shear plays a paramount role in flocculation. In present work, a fluidized bed flocculator with a decreasing fluid shear intensity in steps, called gradient fluidized bed (GFB) flocculator, was developed according to the self-preserving nature of floc size distribution and the flocculation kinetics.

Effect of magnetization pretreatment of coal slime water flocculating sedimentation

International Journal of Coal Preparation and Utilization, 2021
Sedimentation of coal slime water (CSW) is an important process in coal processing plants. However, CSW is difficult to settle because of its high content of clay minerals and fine particles.

Construction of engineering bacteria degrading residual polyacrylamide in coal slime water by protoplast fusion technique

International Journal of Global Energy Issues, 2021
Polyacrylamide (PAM) is widely used as flocculant in coal preparation. A protoplast fusant with enhanced degradation ability of PAM was obtained by intergeneric protoplast fusion between Rhodopseudomonas spheroids and Bacillus subtilis. The protoplast preparation was optimised and inactivation of both parents was performed in different ways.

Application of Flocculant and Coagulant to Coal Slime Water

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Through the analysis of size composition, ash and other properties of Qidong coal mine, three kinds of coagulants and flocculants are used to do the settlement test. The concentration of coal slime water, the types and effect of flocculant and coagulant on the settling are also studying.

Extended DLVO theory applied to coal slime-water suspensions

Journal of Central South University, 2012
Coal slimes are mainly composed of coal and clay particles. The interaction energies among these particles were calculated using extended DLVO (DERJAGUIN-LANDAU-VERWEY-OVERBEEK) theory and the aggregation mechanisms were analyzed based on the settling experiments for coal-kaolinite and coal-montmorillonite suspensions, respectively, under different ...

Coal Preparation Circulating Water Treatment Using Coarse Tail Coal-Slime as Filter Medium

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
As the low economic value, many available chemical and physical properties of coarse tail coal-slime used to be ignored. In this paper, coarse tail coal-slime is used as the filer medium for the treatment of circulating water in coal preparation plants.

Promotion of Coal Slime Water Sedimentation and Filtration via Hydrophobic Coagulation

International Journal of Coal Preparation and Utilization, 2018
ABSTRACTHighly turbid coal slime water is characterized by high concentrations of fine particles with negative electric charges and a high clay content. These characteristics hinder the sedimentation and dewatering of highly turbid coal slime water. Therefore, we investigated the initial settling velocity, light transmittance, and filter cake moisture ...
