Estimation of Aperture and Stiffness of Fractures under High Water Pressure Using Hydrological Data and Slurry Consolidating Body

open access: yesGeofluids, 2022
The fractured limestone aquifers under coal seams bring great threat to coal production, and grouting engineering before mining is usually used to seal the fractures and prevent water inrushes.

Potassium hydroxide activation of microalgal biochar for improved adsorption efficiency

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Activated carbon was prepared from Chlorella by carbonization and potassium hydroxide activation, and its structural properties and methylene blue (MB) adsorption performance were evaluated. Raw Chlorella exhibited an adsorption capacity of 287.2 mg g−1, which decreased to 214.8 mg g−1 after carbonization.

Beyond Furnaces: Harnessing In Situ Joule Heating for Efficient C1 Catalysis

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Joule‐heated catalysis directly converts electrical energy into localized heat within conductive catalysts, overcoming the heat‐transfer limitations of conventional furnaces. This review summarizes recent advances in C1 molecule conversion, including CO2 methanation, reforming for hydrogen production, and HCHO/CO oxidation, while highlighting ...

Energy Balancing of Electrochemical Alternatives to the Solvay Process

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
To overcome the CaCl2 and CO2 emissions custom to the conventional Solvay process in soda ash production, electrochemically based alternatives were investigated. In particular, the mass‐ and energy balances for chlor‐alkali electrolysis and bipolar electrodialysis‐based processes are discussed comprehensively in the presented work.

Combustion of pipelineable coal-water slurries

open access: yes, 1991
The use of liquids or fluids to transport coal through pipelines is not new, nor is the application of coal liquid slurries as fuels in industrial combustion systems. However, it does appear that there are a number of conflicting areas which preclude coals from performing well in a pipeline transportation mode and as a coal-liquid fuel (CLF).

Nonsilting transport characteristics of coal slurry in a deep underground fluidization conveying pipeline under the action of a guide vane swirler

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Aiming at the scientific frontiers of in situ fluidized mining of deep resources, a deep coal fluidized pipeline lifting system based on hydraulic conveying has been proposed. To solve the issue of particle sedimentation of large particles in horizontal connection sections, a solution involving the installation of guide vane‐type swirlers in the ...
