The closer, the better – How perceived ideological proximity between parties affects the emergence of coalition preferences

open access: yesPolitical Research Exchange
While coalition governments have been studied extensively, there remains a lack of understanding of how coalition preferences emerge and what factors are the most influential.

The Gamma-Core and Coalition Formation [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper reinterprets the gamma-core (Chander and Tulkens (1995, 1997)) and justifies it as well as its prediction that the efficient coalition structure is stable in terms of the coalition formation theory.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Stability in Online Coalition Formation

open access: yesProceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence
Coalition formation is concerned with the question of how to partition a set of agents into disjoint coalitions according to their preferences. Deviating from most of the previous work, we consider an online variant of the problem, where agents arrive in sequence and whenever an agent arrives, they have to be assigned to a coalition immediately and ...

Online Coalition Formation under Random Arrival or Coalition Dissolution [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Algorithms
Coalition formation explores how to partition a set of \( n \) agents into disjoint coalitions according to their preferences. We consider a cardinal utility model with an additively separable aggregation of preferences and study the online variant, where agents arrive in sequence.

Matching-Coalition Based Cluster Formation for D2D Multicast Content Sharing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Device-to-device (D2D) multicast content sharing has become a promising technology to improve the services within a local area. This paper investigates the problem of cluster formation (i.e., cluster head (CH) selection and user grouping) for D2D ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
