Effect of Cardiac Rehabilitation on Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Advanced Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, Volume 29, Issue 6, Page 856-865, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Little is known about the effect of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) on cardiovascular events in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods We performed a retrospective cohort study in 189 patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate of less than 30 mL/min/1.73 m2 who were referred to our outpatient CR center.

The m6A Demethylase Fto Enhances Susceptibility to Atrial Fibrillation by Demethylating Kcne1 in Aging Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 12, December 2025.
Aging‐induced accumulation of PGE2 in cardiomyocytes blocks the degradation of Fto. Elevation of Fto in the atria represses m6A methylation of Kcnel which, in turn, leads to the reduction of Kcnel mRNA and protein. Reduced Kcnel enhances IKs currents and thereby shortens APD in atrial cardiomyocytes and increases AF inducibility.

Nationwide Danish Register Based Study Showed a Stable Prevalence of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernias From 1994 to 2021 but a Decrease in Syndromic Cases

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 114, Issue 12, Page 3252-3257, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a severe malformation with high morbidity and mortality. This Danish study evaluated the birth prevalence, co‐occurring malformations, and temporal trends of CDH over nearly three decades. Methods Nationwide data from the Danish Biobank Register were used to identify liveborn infants diagnosed with ...

Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines for horses in Australia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 103, Issue 12, Page 781-889, December 2025.
The growing problem of antimicrobial resistance also affects equine veterinarians with increasing frequency. Antimicrobial stewardship and responsible prescribing are essential for a future in which effective antimicrobials are available, as it is unlikely that new antimicrobials will become available for use in horses.

Role of Histone Deacetylase and Inhibitors in Cardiovascular Diseases

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 58, Issue 12, December 2025.
HDACs play an important role in the occurrence and development of cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial hypertrophy, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. HDAC inhibitors have broad prospects for the treatment of CVD, and different HDAC subtypes can act through different mechanisms.

Rapid Corticosteroid Withdrawal After Cardiac Transplantation Improves Outcomes

open access: yesClinical Transplantation, Volume 39, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Modern immunosuppressive regimens have been associated with lower rejection rates after heart transplantation (HTx), yet long‐term outcomes have remained limited by drug‐related complications. Since 2010, our program has implemented a protocolized corticosteroid withdrawal (CSW) strategy following induction with rabbit anti ...

Integrative cardiovascular dose–response to graded lower‐body negative pressure

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 110, Issue 12, Page 1852-1879, December 1, 2025.
ABSTRACT Lower‐body negative pressure (LBNP) has been posited as a potential spaceflight countermeasure to counteract the physiological deconditioning related to fluid shifts in microgravity. However, open questions remain regarding the magnitude of LBNP that should be applied.
