Coarctation of the Aorta [PDF]
This report summarises our experience with 16 cases of coarctation of the aorta. Clinical and radiological aspects are briefly reviewed. Theimportance of angiocardiography in demonstrating the site and length of the stenosed aortic segment is indicated. The complications of the untreated condition and the indications for surgery are outlined.

Knowledge of coarctation of the aorta, its characteristic features, and its consequences was acquired over a long period of time. It was first recognized by Morgagni in 1760*, its anatomic features detailed by Paris in 1791, the collateral circulation about it and the commonly associated rib erosion diagrammed by Meckel in 1827, the pulsations, the ...

Coarctation of the aorta [PDF]
In a series of 70 patients who had surgical correction of coarctation of the aorta between 1952 and 1969, the operative mortality was 7% and the complication rate was 14%. The mortality was particularly high in adult males over 30, with pre-operative evidence of left ventricular ischaemia.

Ascending Aortic Coarctation - an Atypical Location in a Non-Takayasu Arteritis Female Patient [PDF]
Coarctation of the aorta is a well-known congenital cardiovascular disorder that typically occurs within proximity to the ductus arteriosus. The ascending aorta, distal descending aorta, and abdominal aorta are segments which are prone to development of ...

A case report: A severe juxta-ductal coarctation of aorta with post coarctation aortic aneurysm
Objective: Coarctation of aorta with post coarctation aneurysm is a congenital malformation of the aorta which usually occurs in undiagnosed and long standing coarctation and present in third to fifth decade of life. In this case, we present technique of

Coarctation of the Aorta [PDF]
Coarctation of the aorta was first described by Morgagni in 1760, and in its simplest form refers to isolated and discrete stenosis of the proximal thoracic aorta. However, coarctation may also be associated with a longer segment of narrowing, with hypoplasia of the transverse aortic arch, or with stenosis of the lower thoracic or abdominal aorta (Ho ...

Mathematical modeling of shear-activated targeted nanoparticle drug delivery for the treatment of aortic diseases [PDF]
The human aorta is a high-risk area for vascular diseases, which are commonly restored by thoracic endovascular aortic repair. In this paper, we report a promising shear-activated targeted nanoparticle drug delivery strategy to assist in the treatment of coarctation of the aorta and aortic aneurysm.

Hemodynamic effects of stent-graft introducer sheath during thoracic endovascular aortic repair [PDF]
Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has become the standard treatment of a variety of aortic pathologies. The objective of this study is to evaluate the hemodynamic effects of stent-graft introducer sheath during TEVAR. Three idealized representative diseased aortas of aortic aneurysm, coarctation of the aorta, and aortic dissection were ...
