King Aorta: Narrative anatomy education

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 264-276, March 2025.
Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of narrative anatomy education and traditional anatomy education on academic achievement. The study included 64 students who were randomly divided into two groups. The two groups were (n = 32) control (Group 1) and (n = 32) experimental (Group 2). The pretest scores of the two groups were 36.

Coarctation of Aorta Masquerading as a Spinal Arteriovenous Malformation: A Case Report

open access: yesEuropean Medical Journal Cardiology
Coarctation of the aorta is a congenital disease involving the cardiovascular system. It has a varied presentation and is often under-diagnosed in clinical practice. The authors report a case of an unusual presentation of coarctation of the aorta with a

Descending thoracic aorta–abdominal aortic bypass and bilateral renal arterial blood circulation reconstruction are effective in atypical coarctation of the aorta with heart failure: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2021
Background There are a lot of reports of the renal failure and heart failure due to coarctation of the aorta. However, there are no case reports in which revascularization dramatically improved left ventricular function in patients with progressive ...

Coronary Slow Flow and No‐Reflow During Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: Contemporary Insights Into Imaging‐Guided Prediction, Prevention, and Management

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Coronary slow flow (SF) and no‐reflow (NR) are clinically significant complications of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), particularly in ST‐segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and saphenous vein graft (SVG) interventions. Angiographically defined as impaired myocardial perfusion despite restored epicardial patency, SF/NR ...

Coarctation of the Abdominal Aorta [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Vascular Surgery, 1988
Coarctation of the abdominal aorta constitutes a rare group of vascular abnormalities, including segmental stenoses and extended hypoplasia. Hypertension is the usual solitary clinical finding and contrasts with the diversity of anatomic lesions and surgical techniques used for treatment.

Expression of mutant TIE2 p.L914F during mouse development causes embryonic lethality and defects in vascular remodeling

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Sporadic venous malformation (VM) is associated with the hyperactivating p.L914F mutation in TIE2, a receptor tyrosine kinase essential for vascular development. This mutation is not found in hereditary VM, suggesting incompatibility with life when expressed during early vascular development.

Systemic aging fuels heart failure: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic avenues

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1059-1080, April 2025.
Abstract Systemic aging influences various physiological processes and contributes to structural and functional decline in cardiac tissue. These alterations include an increased incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, a decline in left ventricular diastolic function, left atrial dilation, atrial fibrillation, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac ...

Gut microbiota‐related modulation of immune mechanisms in post‐infarction remodelling and heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 942-954, April 2025.
Abstract The immune system has long been recognized as a key driver in the progression of heart failure (HF). However, clinical trials targeting immune effectors have consistently failed to improve patient outcome across different HF aetiologies. The activation of the immune system in HF is complex, involving a broad network of pro‐inflammatory and ...
