Evaluating Multimodal Emotion Recognition in Proactive Conversational Agents: A User Study
ABSTRACT This article presents a multimodal emotion recognition module integrated into a proactive Socially Interactive Agent (SIA) powered by generative artificial intelligence. The system evaluates real‐time affective states through two distinct channels: a computer vision‐based facial recognition module and a semantic linguistic analysis engine.

ABSTRACT North Pacific humpback whales are a celebrated conservation success, rebounding from extensive commercial whaling. Yet they remain vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, a multifaceted stressor that can exacerbate existing threats. During 2013–2016, a Northeast Pacific marine heatwave severely reduced forage availability in their feeding

ABSTRACT Two coastal dolphin species, the common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus—Tt) and the short‐beaked common dolphin (Delphinus delphis—Dd), co‐occur along the southern Israeli Mediterranean coast, where the critically endangered Dd population faces ecological pressures, potentially including competitive exclusion by that of the Tt ...

Comparing Drone and Vessel‐Based Imaging to Quantify Epibiont Coverage on Humpback Whales
ABSTRACT Cetacean epibionts offer noninvasive insights into host health, physiology, and spatial ecology, yet quantitative assessments in wild populations remain scarce. Although vessel‐based observations may be limited by field of view and analyst input, unoccupied aerial vehicles (UAVs; drones) are increasingly used to monitor cetacean health indices,

ABSTRACT Most dolphin species produce broadband biosonar clicks for echolocating prey, and whistles and burst‐pulsed calls for communication purposes. Seven dolphin species were previously reported to only produce clicks of a narrowband high‐frequency (NBHF) type, very similar to the clicks produced by porpoises.
