From Surface to Bulk Activation: Tailoring the Porosity and Surface Chemistry of Resorcinol‐Formaldehyde Carbon Sorbents for Atmospheric Water Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A bulk activation route to produce nanoporous carbons for atmospheric water harvesting by incorporating potassium hydroxide during resorcinol‐formaldehyde polycondensation. These high‐oxygen sorbents deliver daily water yields up to 23 L kg−1 day−1 with great cyclability, providing a scalable solution for water production in diverse climates.

Singing on key: An integrative taxonomic revision of barking geckos (Gekkonidae: Ptenopus) with six additional species and keys for morphology and advertisement calls [PDF]

open access: yesVertebrate Zoology
Barking geckos, Ptenopus Gray, 1866 are burrowing geckos that occur across the xeric regions of southern Africa. They possess unique vocal abilities, with males producing loud advertisement calls to attract females. The taxonomy of the genus has remained

Integrative Omics Analysis Reveals the Regulation of Hypoxia Tolerance in Large Yellow Croaker (Larimichthys crocea) via the Lipoic Acid Synthase (lias) Gene

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipoic acid synthase (lias) can regulate α‐KG levels through lipoylation, thereby negatively regulating HIF‐1α protein levels via PHD under hypoixa. The Hap2 allele of lias exhibits lower expression levels than Hap1, leading to the accumulation of more HIF‐1α protein and thereby enhancing hypoxia tolerance. ABSTRACT Hypoxia stress seriously affects the

Extreme environments as potential drivers of convergent evolution by exaptation: the Atacama Desert Coastal Range case.

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2012
We have recently discovered a variety of unrelated phototrophic microorganisms (two microalgae and one cyanobacteria) in specialized terrestrial habitats at The Coastal Range of the Atacama Desert.

Black Hole Quencher‐Enhanced Plasmonic Photothermal Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers have developed a universal method to boost plasmonic photothermal conversion by attaching black hole quencher (BHQ) molecules to matched metal nanostructures. This hybrid approach increases efficiency by roughly threefold, reaching up to 69.1% in the near‐infrared‐II window.

Variación en la abundancia de Artropoda en un transecto latitudinal del desierto costero transicional de Chile, con énfasis en los tenebriónidos epígeos Variation in the abundance of Arthropoda from a latitudinal transect in the transitional coastal desert of Chile, with emphasis on the epigean tenebrionids

Unveiling the Uncharted Potential of 2D Materials in Li/Na–S Batteries: A Paradigm Shift From Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores emerging 2D materials beyond graphene, including graphdiyne, phosphorene, borophene, siloxene, MBene, antimonene, and germanene for Li/Na–S batteries. It analyzes their roles as sulfur hosts, metallic anode protectors, separators, and electrolyte fillers, emphasizing polysulfide suppression, dendrite inhibition, and interfacial ...

Ultrathin 2D In2O3 Nanosheets Confining Cu Single Atoms Synergized With Oxygen Vacancies for High Selectivity of Photocatalytic Reduction of CO2 to CO

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, we constructed an ultrathin two‐dimensional (2D) In2O3 nanosheet (In2O3‐Ns) structure based on oxygen vacancies (OV)‐rich defects and low crystallinity to anchor Cu single atoms (Cu SAs) and synthesized Cu/In2O3‐Ns photocatalysts. ABSTRACT In this work, we constructed an ultrathin two‐dimensional (2D) In2O3 nanosheet (In2O3‐Ns) structure ...
