Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Elanus caeruleus Desfontaines, 1789 (Accipitriformes: Accipitridae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2022
The complete mitochondrial genome of the Elanus caeruleus was sequenced via next-generation sequencing. The circular mitogenome is 18,898 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, a control region and

Multi-omics analyses on Kandelia obovata reveal its response to transplanting and genetic differentiation among populations

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2021
Background Restoration through planting is the dominant strategy to conserve mangrove ecosystems. However, many of the plantations fail to survive. Site and seeding selection matters for planting.

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.

Regulation of Precipitation on Soil Dissolved Organic Matter in Perturbed Mangrove Ecosystems

open access: yesEcosystem Health and Sustainability
Carbon sinks in mangrove soils play a critical role in climate change mitigation globally. Soil dissolved organic matter (DOM) is a major form of labile organic matter and influences carbon cycling in wetland ecosystems.

Mapping the “Supply–Demand–Flow” of Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Management in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a “supply–demand–flow” framework clarifies how ecosystem services move between regions by distinguishing potential and actual supply and demand. Using integrated biophysical–socioeconomic modeling, nine services in China were mapped.

A Chirality‐Converted Bacteriolytic Dodecapeptide Regulates Vibrio‐Induced Polymicrobial Infection and Ameliorates Invasion‐Associated Gut Microbiota Disequilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multidrug‐resistant Vibrio infections are rising rapidly and threaten coastal populations worldwide. This study introduces D‐zp37, a chirality‐engineered antimicrobial peptide with exceptional potency against resistant Vibrio species. D‐zp37 kills planktonic cells, blocks mixed‐species biofilms, disrupts essential bacterial stress responses, and shows ...

Trends in metal(loid) bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms: A bibliometric analysis from 1963 to 2024

open access: yesEcological Indicators
Aquatic ecosystems demonstrate distinct dynamic characteristics and function as essential repositories for anthropogenic pollutants. Metal(loid)s can enter food chains through aquatic organism feeding behaviors, accumulate within organisms, and ...

Machine Learning‐Driven Prediction of Microplastic Aging Processes and Environmental Risk Assessment Across Multi‐Media Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This perspective proposes a cohesive machine learning strategy to decode microplastic aging. It advocates for Federated Learning to dismantle global data silos and introduces the TRACE framework (TRansport, Aging, Corona, Ecotoxicity). By integrating physics‐informed modeling with causal discovery, this approach bridges the laboratory‐field gap to ...

Solar‐Driven Bifunctional Adsorption‐Storage Films for Ultra‐Fast Dehumidification and Freshwater Supply in Low‐carbon Buildings

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bifunctional adsorption‐storage films enable autonomous indoor humidity regulation and freshwater harvesting, rapidly decreasing relative humidity from 90.7% to 21.6% within one hour while producing 1.1 kg·m−2·day−1 of water, offering a passive route towards energy‐efficient humidity control and sustainable indoor environments. ABSTRACT Indoor humidity
