Sea surface temperature trends in the coastal ocean
Sea surface temperature (SST) trends in the coastal zone are shown to be increasing at rates that exceed the global trends by up to an order of magnitude. This paper compiles some of the evidence of the trends published in the literature.

Abstract Accurate length data underpin many ecological and physiological analyses, from assessing population size structure to parameterizing biomass and bioenergetic models. Stereo‐baited remote underwater video systems (stereo‐BRUVs) provide a non‐intrusive means of collecting these data in situ, supporting management and conservation of motile ...

Cruise report WELOC cruise '77, leg 6, R/V WECOMA, May 21 - June 18, 1977
The R/V WECOMA cruise leg 6 emphasized the field work of the marine geology research program on "Patterns and processes of continental margin sedimentation." This program constitutes a mesoscale study of processes controlling hemipelagic sediment ...

A systematic 15N‐amino‐acid tracer framework to identify sources of pelagic marine organic matter
Abstract Accurately tracing organic matter sources in marine systems remains challenging, particularly where natural and anthropogenic inputs coexist. Compound‐specific stable isotope analysis of amino acids (CSIA‐AA) offers strong potential for organic matter source discrimination, but its application is limited by the small number of validated δ15N ...

Hydrometeorological Drivers of the 2023 Louisiana Water Crisis
During summer and fall 2023, Louisiana experienced a historic local drought while dry conditions elsewhere in the central US withheld vital runoff from the Mississippi River, leading to below‐normal discharge into the Gulf of Mexico.

Abstract Flow cytometry measures the optical properties of individual cells and has become essential for enumerating and characterizing marine phytoplankton. Yet systematic comparison of measurements across instruments remains limited, hampering data comparison across laboratories and long‐term time series.

Abstract Accurate measurements of phytoplankton net primary production (NPP) and calcification are essential for quantifying marine carbon cycling, yet in situ calcification rates remain poorly constrained. We compared 13C‐ and 14C‐based tracer methods for NPP in laboratory cultures of the diatom Chaetoceros tenuissimus and the coccolithophore ...
