A Unifying Thermodynamic Model for Phase Separation and Aging of Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phase separation and aging of intrinsically disordered proteins are placed in a unifying framework. A thermodynamically consistent time‐dependent version of associating‐polymer theory shows how the processes are intricately coupled. Assuming aging to occur through interacting sites resulting from reversible conformational transitions, the model ...

First application of a new imaging system for the coastal monitoring

open access: yes, 2009
Newly developed video monitoring systems offer data of improved quality for monitoring coastal zones effectively. In this work we present the capability of coastal monitoring by an inexpensive video and digital imaging system.

Systematic Multi‐Level Analyses Decode the Arthritis‐Neurodegeneration Axis With In Vivo Validation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Arthritis and neurodegeneration are usually studied as separate disorders, but this study connects them through population evidence, genetic inference, transcriptomic mapping, and mouse models. It highlights RNF40 as a context‐dependent joint‐brain candidate, induced in inflammatory joints yet functionally linked to dopamine‐neuron vulnerability ...

Assessing the Impact of Hydraulic Control Structures on Hydrodynamic Modelling in Shallow Waters

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Currently, hydrodynamic models for bay and estuarine systems involve many parameters that require proper calibration to design coastal structures effectively.

Anti-plane dynamic stiffness coefficient of a rigid foundation embedded in a multi-layered TI ground

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
The anti-plane dynamic stiffness coefficient of a rigid foundation embedded in a multi-layered transversely isotropic (TI) ground is obtained by using the indirect boundary element method (IBEM).

Groundwater Rise Sustains the World's Largest Alpine Water System Under Global Warming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Shallow groundwater depth (SGWD) across the non‐permafrost plains of the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau decreased at averagely 0.02 m year−1, adding 31.44 Gt of freshwater storage from 2000 to 2020 and sustaining ∼53 500 km2 of alpine ecosystems. A vadose‐zone capacity of 426.6 Gt reveals these aquifers as promising reservoirs, highlighting groundwater's ...

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics and Metabolomics Reveal Glutamate Dehydrogenase as a Central Regulator of Nitrogen Metabolic Remodeling During Alkalinity Adaptation in Crustaceans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell transcriptomics reveals the cellular response of Macrobrachium hainanense to carbonate alkalinity stress. Alkalinity stress impairs branchial ammonia excretion, induces mitochondrial dysfunction, and drives cell‐type‐specific changes in gills and hemocytes.
