Primary Productivity and Habitat Depth Shape Developmental Mode in European Marine Gastropods
Thorson's rule suggests that marine gastropods in colder, high‐latitude regions tend to have non‐pelagic (non‐drifting) larval development. However, this study on 94 European gastropod species found that the rule disappears when examined at finer spatial scales, with temperature and phylogeny having little influence.

Octopus vulgaris Type III — an undescribed Southern Hemisphere lineage occurring along the South African coast and Amsterdam Island — is genomically distinct from O. vulgaris sensu stricto and O. sinensis, as inferred from phylogenetic analyses of 338 nuclear loci and complete mitochondrial genomes, supporting the need for taxonomic re‐evaluation of ...

Deep refuges: the distribution of marine fish in warming subtropics
In light of global climate change, identifying critical marine habitats and conserving them is essential. Marine conservation planning recommends designating cooler habitats as marine protected areas. The ‘deep‐reef refugia' hypothesis suggests that deeper, suitable habitats may allow species to undergo the evolutionary changes necessary to adapt to ...

Environmental DNA metabarcoding reveals diverse animal communities across Cape Range and Cloates submarine canyons off Western Australia. Two assays detected 234 species spanning 125 families across 11 phyla, highlighting canyon‐specific assemblages and demonstrating the value of eDNA for establishing biodiversity baselines in remote and poorly ...
