Nutrient fluxes and net metabolism in a coastal lagoon SW peninsula of Baja California, Mexico
Fluxes of nutrients and net metabolism were estimated in coastal lagoon Magdalena Bay using LOICZ biogeochemical model. In situ data were obtained from 14 sites in the lagoon and also from a fixed site in the adjacent ocean area.

Toward closure of upwelling radiance in coastal waters
We present three methods for deriving water-leaving radiance L(w)(lambda) and remote-sensing reflectance using a hyperspectral tethered spectral radiometer buoy (HyperTSRB), profiled spectroradiometers, and Hydrolight simulations. Average agreement for 53 comparisons between HyperTSRB and spectroradiometric determinations of L(w)(lambda) was 26%, 13 ...

The influence of coastal upwelling on the biodiversity of sandy beaches in South Africa
Sandy beaches are often highly allochthonous, depending on external subsidies of carbon and nutrients. Despite this, sandy beach macrofaunal assemblages have received little attention regarding their response to enhanced primary productivity generated ...

ABSTRACT We evaluated the effects of regional environment and body size on the nutritional traits of five small pelagic species differing in habitat use, feeding behavior, and importance as prey for top predators in the California Current Large Marine Ecosystem (CCLME).

Based on the analysis of multispectral satellite data, this work demonstrates the influence of coastal upwelling on the variability of chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) concentration in the south-eastern Baltic (SEB) Sea and in the Curonian Lagoon.

A Simple Analytical Model of Periodic Coastal Upwelling
Abstract An existing reduced-gravity model that reproduces the response of the coastal sea to alongshore wind forcing at subinertial frequencies is extended by allowing for cross-shore wind forcing and by considering superinertial frequencies. The obtained explicit solution shows that the wind-driven currents are predominantly controlled

Southwesterly winds cause coastal upwelling along the southwestern coast of the East Sea/Japan Sea (EJS) in summer. To investigate the seasonal variations and long-term trends in the coastal upwelling, the observations of the Sea Surface Temperature (SST)

ABSTRACT Marine fish commonly move across distinct habitats throughout their lifetimes, particularly during larval stages, when they are particularly difficult to track. Such transitions are necessary as environmental demands and predation pressures change dramatically with increases in body size.

ABSTRACT Marine ecosystems are experiencing warming events in various regions of the world. Thus, many fish species and populations are now being impacted by the warmer water temperature conditions. Previous studies have reported temperature‐dependent sex determination (TSD) in various fish species.

The Black Sea Upwelling System: Analysis on the Western Shallow Waters
Upwelling is due to the combined effect of the coastal divergence process and Ekman pumping. The author aims to investigate two new upwelling indices for the Black Sea, derived from climate reanalysis models and the following in situ data: (a) the ...
