Coatings update: maintenance coatings

Pigment & Resin Technology, 1984
Maintenance coatings have several functions but certainly one of their most important is to combat corrosion. Corrosion protection is important in both maintenance and industrial coatings and this is stressed in an article in Chemical Marketing Reporter (June 6 (1983) p. 5, 20).

Infrared coatings

Applied Optics, 1988
IR Coatings are optical interference coatings used for at least one of the atmospheric windows from 3-5 or from 8-12 microns. Particulary interesting are coatings which are additionally used for the visible spectrum, or high power coatings for the CO2-laser at 10.6 microns. The main applications of IRCs are thermal imagers and laser systems.

Superhydrophobic oligoaniline-containing electroactive silica coating as pre-process coating for corrosion protection of carbon steel

open access: yesChemical Engineering Journal, 2018
This paper provided a novel coating system for Q235 steel using electrodeposited oligoaniline modified silica coating (E-M-SiO2) as a pre-process coating, which was prepared by one step coelectrodeposition of a mixture of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS ...

Coatings update: specialty coatings and new coating processes

Pigment & Resin Technology, 1982
A large number of coatings have been described which serve very specific purposes. An example is a foam coating which may be applied by spraying, dipping, or other normal procedures. On curing, however, there is sufficient gas generation to foam the coating. A fine cellular structure results.

Coatings in the Postharvest

2019
The development of new edible coatings (ECs) with improved functionality and performance for fresh and minimally processed fruits and vegetables is one of the challenges of the postharvest industry. This technique has been successful not only in reducing water loss and delaying senescence, but also in increasing the antimicrobial properties of the ...

Aerospace Coatings

2016
Aircraft are complex multi-material structures that are optimized for strength to weight ratio, fatigue properties and operational performance. Corrosion control is an important aspect in the aerospace industry. Therefore, active protective coatings are an important part of the corrosion protection scheme within the aircraft design.

Coating Of Plastics - Coatings On Plastic

SPIE Proceedings, 1988
This paper addresses the peculiar conditions one encounters in coating of plastic substrates with thin films. The emphasis lies on optical coatings, with decorative metallization being omitted from the discussion. Differences in the nature and preparation of the substrates, the coating processes, and resulting film properties compared with 'regular ...

HYDROXYAPATITE COATINGS

Orthopedics, 1994
ABSTRACTA series of investigations over the past several years has evaluated a number of implant materials with and without plasma-sprayed hydroxyapatite (HA) coatings for use in load-bearing implant applications. HA-coated implants have exhibited greater interface shear attachment characteristics when compared to uncoated implants; these results have ...

Coatings update: coatings for plastics

Pigment & Resin Technology, 1985
The coating of plastics has occupied the attention of polymer chemists for the past 30 years. Several problems are immediately obvious. If the coating is a hard resistant thermoset like a baked phenolic, it provides a surface to which every few substances will adhere: Two generations ago all telephones were black for this reason.
