Coaxial Antenna for Microwave Hyperthermia

Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2005
We present in this paper a coaxial applicator in which the radiating source is a circular slot realised by exterior conductor interruption of a coaxial guide. The guide is immersed in a strong dissipated medium. A dielectric material girdle without losses or an air layer is inserted among the radiating slot and the load.

Coaxial antenna for microwave ablation

2016 IEEE Distributed Computing, VLSI, Electrical Circuits and Robotics (DISCOVER), 2016
Microwave energy has the ability to heat the area of diseased tissue and it can be used for the local hyperthermia. Now a days hyperthermia is used to treat the cancer tumor and it is verified by several clinical trials. Depending upon the size and position of the target tumor several types of antennas are proposed by researchers.

A slot-array antenna on a coaxial cylinder

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1998 Digest. Antennas: Gateways to the Global Network. Held in conjunction with: USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting (Cat. No.98CH36194), 2002
In mobile communication, omnidirectional directivity and circular polarization are convenient properties because when they are used, acquisition and track operations for direction and polarization are not needed. As an antenna which has such properties, we developed a slot-array antenna on an oversize coaxial cylinder.

A novel coaxial CTS antenna design

2007 6th International Conference on Antenna Theory and Techniques, 2007
CTS (Continuous Transverse Stub) antenna radiates electromagnetic wave with its transverse stubs on transmission line, and its pattern in horizon plane is omnidirectional. This paper proposes a novel coaxial CTS structure, in which a monopole is applied in coaxial CTS antenna, instead of a matching load.

Wideband Antennas Using Coaxial Waveguide

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2021
Waveguide arrays comprise slot radiators cut into hollow, single-mode, standing wave structures. Their impedance bandwidth and compactness are limited by the waveguide cutoff. By using the TEM mode of a coaxial waveguide, a more compact structure with a larger bandwidth is possible at the expense of increased ohmic loss in the waveguide.

Coaxial helical antenna with improved isolation

1999 9th International Crimean Microwave Conference 'Microwave and Telecommunication Technology'. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.99EX363), 1999
Two cylindric helical antennas (CHA) being exited in an axial radiation mode at different frequencies have different helix diameters, and they can be placed in a coaxial manner one inside the other. To obtain electrical characteristics of a coaxial helical antenna (COHA) similar to the characteristics of the single CHA in the required frequency band ...

The characteristics of coaxial spiral antennas

4th International Conference on Antenna Theory and Techniques (Cat. No.03EX699), 2004
The paper presents the results of a study of the main characteristics of coaxial antennas used for receiving and transmitting circularly polarized waves in two separate frequency bands. The method of determining the geometric parameters of these antennas under given requirements is introduced.

A Compact Reconfigurable coaxial slot antenna

2018 International Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society Symposium - China (ACES), 2018
In this letter, a compact reconfigurable coaxial antenna with orthogonal slots containing switches is presented. Switch structure consists of PIN diode which is lapped at the midpoint of coaxial slot. Slots are structured as slot array to ensure high gain performance. The slot works well when the diode is open, but doesn’t work when the diode is short.

Analysis of linear coaxial antennas

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1998
Two types of linear coaxial antennas, coaxial-colinear antennas, and slotted coaxial antennas are studied to check the possibility of using them as the base-station antenna in personal communication systems. The slot voltages and input impedance of linear coaxial antennas are obtained by using a transmission-line analysis where the radiation effect is ...

Wideband coaxial balun for antenna application

12th International Conference on Microwaves and Radar. MIKON-98. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.98EX195), 2002
The modelling and design of a coaxial balun with a balanced-to-unbalanced impedance ratio of 4:1, resulting in a VSWR below 2.0:1 for 4:1 bandwidth, is presented. A modified model is proposed for the coaxial Marchand balun, which takes into account technological discontinuities.
