Experimental investigation on the aeroacoustics of coaxial rotors

INTER-NOISE and NOISE-CON Congress and Conference Proceedings, 2023
Coaxial rotor configurations are adopted by drones and electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles due to the need of generating high propulsive power within a compact size. The aerodynamic interaction between two closely spaced rotors may induce different noise features than isolated ones.

Aeromechanics and Aeroelastic Stability of Coaxial Rotors

Journal of Aircraft, 2021
Coaxial rotor aeroelasticity is complex due to the counter-rotating wake system, rotor lift offset, periodic blade passage loads, unsteady rotor wake interactions, reduced rotor speed, and stiff hi...

Rotor Design and Aerodynamic Simulation of a Coaxial Rotor Aircraft

2019 IEEE International Conference on Unmanned Systems (ICUS), 2019
Based on the concept of a small coaxial rotor aircraft, a new type of blade made from cylinder is designed in this paper. The folding blades can wrap the aircraft properly and form an integral cylinder, which is easy to store and carry. With these blades, the aircraft will be easy to be stored in the cylindrical chamber.

Design and Control of a Novel Coaxial Tilt-Rotor UAV

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2022
In this paper, the design and control of a new coaxial tilt-rotor (CTR) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) are presented. The CTRUAV is an electric-powered UAV with a special configuration, which is composed of two pairs of tiltable coaxial rotors and a rear rotor.

Research on the Influence of Coaxial Rotor Configuration on the Propulsion of Multi-Rotor UAVs

2018 IEEE 13th Annual International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems (NEMS), 2018
In this paper, An experimental device for testing a coaxial rotor system was developed and a series related test experiments were carried out. The experimental device utilizes the principle of leverage to collect the propulsion generated by the rotor system by a force sensor.
