OMCVD of cobalt and cobalt silicide
Journal of Crystal Growth, 1991Cobalt and cobalt silicide layers were deposited by OMCVD using the Co precursors Co(C5H5)2, Co2(CO)8, Co(C5H5)(CO)2 and CoCF3(CO)4, and the Si precursors SiH4 and Si2H6. Strongly textured (111)-β Co layers were grown from Co(C5H5)2, Co(C5H5)(CO)2 and CoCF3(CO)4 at temperatures above 300°C in H2 at atmospheric pressure.

Corrosion of Cobalt and Cobalt Alloys
Corrosion, 1969Investigations are reviewed of the composition and structures of corrosion films and scales found on cobalt and on simple and complex cobalt-base industrial alloys. The corrosion resistance of these films and scales depends on metal and alloy composition, environment (an atmosphere containing one or more of CO2, S, H2S, O2, H2O, SO2, V2O3, NaCl, etc.),

Cobalt is critical to the renewable energy sector due to its use as the raw material for rechargeable batteries. The rapidly growing battery industry consumes more than 80% of the worlds Co, which is creating concern about future supply. There are three main primary cobalt deposit types: sediment-hosted Cu deposits, Ni sulfide deposits, and Ni laterite

The cobalt-rich regions of the samarium-cobalt and gadolinium-cobalt phase diagrams
Journal of the Less Common Metals, 1973Abstract The boundaries of the homogeneity regions of the phases SmCo 5 , GdCo 5 and Gd 2 Co 17 have been determined by microscopic investigation. At elevated temperatures the homogeneity region of the phases SmCo 5 and GdCo 5 extends to the Co-rich as well as to the Co-deficient side whereas the phases Gd 2 Co 17 and Sm 2 Co 17 show almost no ...

Science of The Total Environment, 1994
In the crust of the Earth cobalt is present in a greater abundance than lead, molybdenum or cadmium. The concentration and distribution of cobalt is discussed in relation to major terrestrial, aquatic and atmospheric systems. The processes which control or influence the transfer of this element in major ecosystems are evaluated in terms of ...

THE effects of various metals on living cells in tissue culture are being investigated in this Laboratory, and a non-lethal disturbance of normal mitosis produced in chick fibroblasts by cobalt (as chloride) has already been reported1. This effect, which is characterized by the persistence of the nucleoli in mitotic cells throughout prophase into meta-,

Cobalt and Cobalt Alloy Castings
2008Abstract This article discusses the physical metallurgy of cast cobalt alloys with emphasis on crystallography, compositions, phases and microstructure, and properties. Cobalt alloys are cast by several different foundry methods. The article describes the argon-oxygen decarburization and continuous casting process.

Pharmacokinetics of cobalt chloride and cobalt-protoporphyrin.
Drug Metabolism and Disposition, 1993A comparison of the pharmacokinetics of the trace element cobalt and the protoporphyrin chelate of this metal, cobalt-protoporphyrin, was conducted in male Sprague-Dawley rats. Following subcutaneous treatment (250 mumol/kg body weight), cobalt was found predominantly (> 95%) in plasma, from which it was rapidly eliminated (t1/2 approximately 25 hr ...
