Multi‐Omics Profiling of the Scaphoideus titanus Yeast‐Like Symbiont Guides the Bioinformatic Discovery of Related Fungal Symbioses in Insects

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 7, July 2026.
Genomic, proteomic and phylogenetic analyses of the obligate yeast‐like symbiont (YLS) associated with Scaphoideus titanus revealed retained metabolic flexibility and a monophyletic origin of insect‐associated YLSs within a free‐living fungal lineage. A novel computational pipeline was used to mine NCBI transcriptomic data and identified new candidate ...

THREE NEW COCCIDAE [PDF]

open access: yesThe Canadian Entomologist, 1899
Nidularia (?) californica, n. sp.♀ covered with wax resting on a thin white secretion. Colour orange-ferruginous, shiny, varying greatly in size and shape. The average specimens are about 3 mm. long, 1½ wide, and 1 mm. high; generally pyriform, but it is difficult to give any special form, as the insect adapts itself to the position on the plant. After ...

When Numbers Mean Money: Pest Precision Sampling in High‐Density Mango Crops

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 150, Issue 3, Page 333-339, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The development of sampling plans is essential for assertive decision‐making in integrated pest management programs. The present study aimed to develop a plan for monitoring major mango pests in high‐density mango crops in Brazil. For this purpose, the influence of the position of the branch to be sampled in the canopy (internal and external ...

Dominated Spider Species and the Predation Assessment on Apolygus lucorum (Hemiptera: Miridae) in a Tea Plantation

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
The mirid bug Apolygus lucorum (Meyer‐Dür) is a major pest affecting tea. Identifying the dominant predatory spiders of the mirid bug can provide a scientific basis for developing biological control technologies. Xysticus ephippiatus demonstrates the greatest potential as a biological control agent against A. lucorum.

A review of non‐native scale insects (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Coccoidea) of Australia and the challenges in maintaining current and accurate pest lists

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Over 870 species of scale insects, also called coccoids (infraorder Coccomorpha), have been recorded from Australia. Here, we systematically review literature, databases and collections to provide a revised assessment of non‐native species to Australia, for which we confirm those species that are introduced and extant in Australia (including ...

Assessment of Insect and Mite Pests and Their Natural Enemies in Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis L.) Rutaceae Cultivations in Eastern Ethiopia

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Severe infestations of insect and mite pests constrain sweet orange (Citrus sinensis L.) Rutaceae, production in eastern Ethiopia. Little information exists in eastern Ethiopia regarding the insect and mite pests and their natural enemies. This study was conducted to assess the occurrence of pests and their natural enemies in the sweet orange.

Commodity risk assessment of oak and walnut logs from the US

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The European Commission submitted to the EFSA Panel on Plant Health a Dossier from the United States proposing the use of a vacuum–steam–heat treatment as a stand‐alone phytosanitary measure to mitigate the risk of entry of Bretziella fagacearum, Geosmithia morbida and its vector Pityophthorus juglandis (thousand cankers disease complex) into ...
