The influence of tolfenpyrad on fitness, development, and reproduction in parents and offspring of Coccinella septempunctata

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2021
Coccinella septempunctata (ladybird) is one of the foremost natural predators that feed on aphids. Thus, C. septempunctata serves as an effective biological control agent in integrated pest management (IPM) programs. To supplement the activity of biological control agents, IPM programs often incorporate chemical pesticides to bolster crop protection ...

Impact of the arrival of Harmonia axyridis on adults of Coccinella septempunctata and Coleomegilla maculata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2002
The impact of the arrival of the exotic coccinellid Harmonia axyridis on the biological control and dispersion of apple mites and aphids, and on the vertical distribution of the established coccinellids Coccinella septempunctata and Coleomegilla maculata

A systematic review on research trends and commercialised entomopathogenic nematodes: A global perspective

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 298-313, May 2026.
Out of 136 identified EPNs, only 18 (8 Steinernema and 6 Heterorhabditis) are commercialised globally, highlighting a major gap between discovery and application. High production costs and inconsistent field efficacy are the leading obstacles to the widespread commercialisation of EPN‐based biocontrol products.

Morphology and Surface Structure of Eggs and First Instar Larvae of Coccinella septempunctata (Linnaeus, 1758) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae)

open access: yesResearch in Agricultural Sciences
The seven-spotted ladybug, Coccinella septempunctata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) L., is a polyphagous predatory species that feeds on many species of aphids and some soft-bodied insects in both larval and adult stages. For this reason, C.

Effect of presence and semiochemicals of conspecific stages on oviposition by ladybirds (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2012
Reduced oviposition by ladybirds in the presence of tracks of fourth instar larvae owing to the presence of oviposition deterring pheromones is well established across many genera.

Feeding Preference and Foraging Behaviour of Eriopis connexa on Two Aphid Species

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 150, Issue 4, Page 444-453, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Aphids are phloem‐feeding insects that cause both direct and indirect damage to crops, reducing agricultural productivity. Among the available pest control strategies, biological control using natural enemies is a sustainable and effective approach. The ladybird Eriopis connexa (Germar, 1824) is a generalist predator known for its voracity and
