OSTEITIS OF THE COCCYX

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1927
The report of cases of osteitis and osteomyelitis of the coccyx seems to be exceedingly rare. The literature is surprisingly barren of similar summaries. Boland 1 cites one case which was complicated by stricture of the rectum. Tuberculosis of the coccyx is often included in discussions of Pott's disease

CONGENITAL ABSENCE OF THE SACRUM AND COCCYX

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1953
The patient here reported presented multiple skeletal abnormalities indicating diffuse adverse influences brought to bear principally on the developing spinal column. The absence of two ribs on one side coincided with the absent halves of the thoracic vertebrae, thus indicating the "intimacy of the primordium of a rib and its corresponding vertebra"2.
