Attrition in Cochlear Implant Research: Sociodemographic, Audiologic, and Performance Variables
In a retrospective review of attrition patterns for participants in a clinical research study, sociodemographic variables were not significantly different between those who elected to withdraw and those who completed the study. Those in the withdrawal group had poorer low‐frequency residual hearing, were less likely to be electric‐acoustic stimulation ...

ABSTRACT Background The proposal to involve patients and the public (Patient and Public Involvement; PPI) in research is increasingly recognised as important in research concerning speech, language, and hearing and communication difficulties. Whilst there is extensive guidance about PPI involvement by national agencies such as the National Institute of

This study maps age‐aligned cochlear and vestibular decline in SAMP8 mice, linking functional impairment with synaptic vulnerability, mitochondrial ultrastructural injury, and autophagy/mitophagy–lysosome transcriptional remodeling. The findings provide an integrated framework for understanding shared inner‐ear aging trajectories.

Long‐Term Hydrophilic, Anti‐Clotting, and Anti‐Fibrotic Dynamic Covalent Silicone‐Based Biomaterials
Dynamic covalent crosslinking of a Schiff‐base silicone elastomer with hydrazide‐functionalized polymers is demonstrated to improve the long‐term hydrophilicity as well as the anti‐fouling and anti‐clotting properties of PDMS implants. The hydrazone‐functionalized material prevents hydrophobic recovery, resists clotting, and significantly reduces ...
