Estimating Residual Faults from Code Coverage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Many reliability prediction techniques require an estimate for the number of residual faults. In this paper, a new theory is developed for using test coverage to estimate the number of residual faults. This theory is applied to a specific example with known faults and the results agree well with the theory.

Planning to Guide LLM for Code Coverage Prediction [PDF]

open access: gold2024 IEEE/ACM First International Conference on AI Foundation Models and Software Engineering (Forge) Conference Acronym:
Code coverage serves as a crucial metric to assess testing effectiveness, measuring the degree to which a test suite exercises different facets of the code, such as statements, branches, or paths.

Fine-grained Code Coverage Measurement in Automated Black-box Android Testing [PDF]

open access: greenACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology, 2020
Today, there are millions of third-party Android applications. Some of them are buggy or even malicious. To identify such applications, novel frameworks for automated black-box testing and dynamic analysis are being developed by the Android community ...

Fault Localization with Code Coverage Representation Learning [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Conference on Software Engineering, 2021
In this paper, we propose DeepRL4FL, a deep learning fault localization (FL) approach that locates the buggy code at the statement and method levels by treating FL as an image pattern recognition problem.

FuzzingDriver: the Missing Dictionary to Increase Code Coverage in Fuzzers [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Conference on Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering, 2022
We propose a tool, called FuzzingDriver, to generate dictionary tokens for coverage-based greybox fuzzers (CGF) from the codebase of any target program. FuzzingDriver does not add any overhead to the fuzzing job as it is run beforehand.

Evaluating Code Coverage for Kernel Fuzzers via Function Call Graph

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
The OS kernel, which has full system privileges, is an attractive attack surface. A kernel fuzzer that targets system calls in fuzzing is a popular tool for discovering kernel bugs that can induce kernel privilege escalation attacks.
