Code quality assessment using transformers

open access: yesCoRR, 2023
Automatically evaluate the correctness of programming assignments is rather straightforward using unit and integration tests. However, programming tasks can be solved in multiple ways, many of which, although correct, are inelegant. For instance, excessive branching, poor naming or repetitiveness make the code hard to understand and maintain.

Code Red: The Business Impact of Code Quality - A Quantitative Study of 39 Proprietary Production Codebases [PDF]

open access: yes2022 IEEE/ACM International Conference on Technical Debt (TechDebt), 2022
Code quality remains an abstract concept that fails to get traction at the business level. Consequently, software companies keep trading code quality for time-to-market and new features.

High Quality Audio Coding with Mdctnet

open access: yesICASSP 2023 - 2023 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2023
We propose a neural audio generative model, MDCTNet, operating in the perceptually weighted domain of an adaptive modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT). The architecture of the model captures correlations in both time and frequency directions with recurrent layers (RNNs).

Incorporating Code Structure and Quality in Deep Code Search

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Developers usually search for reusable code snippets to improve software development efficiency. Existing code search methods, including methods based on full-text or deep learning, have two disadvantages: (1) ignoring structural information of code ...
