A new image coding quality assessment

APCCAS 2008 - 2008 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems, 2008
Based on characteristics of HVS (human visual system), a new objective image quality assessment is proposed. In this method, the information of luminance, frequency and edge is used to predict the quality of compressed images. Multi-linear regression analysis is used to integrate these information.

Code Quality and Workflow

2016
Throughout this book, we have dealt with various techniques and the (many!) different specifications and properties of CSS. In the process, we have touched on some useful ways of thinking responsibly about these solutions. In this final chapter, we will revisit some of these approaches to dive deeper into the reasons why some are better than others.

Measuring static quality of student code

Proceedings of the 16th annual joint conference on Innovation and technology in computer science education, 2011
In this paper we report about a large-scale measurement programme concerning the static quality of student-written Java code. The goal of the programme is two-fold: we investigate what metrics are useful for measuring static quality in an educational setting, and we investigate what conclusions can be drawn from the measurement results.

Taste Stimuli: Quality Coding Time

Science, 1971
Rats conditioned to avoid drinking 300 millimolar NaCl recognized and rejected this solution within 250 to 600 milliseconds of onset of stimulus, a period containing the phasic portion of the peripheral neural response. They generalized to 500 millimolar NaCl but not to 500 millimolar sucrose.

Quality coding of a complex odorant in an invertebrate

Journal of Neurophysiology, 1984
Mechanisms whereby the olfactory system of the spiny lobster codes food odors were quantitatively analyzed. A 23-component chemical mixture, with a composition based on a tissue extract from a known food of lobsters, and 8 of the mixture's components were used to describe responses of single cells at two neural levels: a) olfactory receptor cells and ...

The Qualities of Clean Code

2019
So what is clean code? If you ask three different developers, you will get three different answers. It’s a hard concept to define. You know clean code when you see it, as if written by a programming wizard from a distant land. We all want to write good code that others admire. Sometimes we don’t know where to start.

Code Quality Metrics

2016
Artists sometimes pause after they’ve been painting a while and step back. They relax and look at their painting. This gives them a clue whether they are doing what it takes to get to the picture of what they had been envisioning. We programmers can take a cue from our painter friends.
