An improved VQ codebook design algorithm for HMM
[Proceedings] ICASSP-92: 1992 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1992The authors present a vector quantization (VQ) codebook design algorithm for recognition systems based on the phoneme-level hidden Markov model (HMM). In order to improve the discrimination ability of HMMs, the VQ codewords are extracted from the HMM state segments of the recognition units.

Geodesical Codebook Design for Precoded MIMO Systems
IEEE Communications Letters, 2009We propose a numerical method for finding packings of multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) semi-unitary precoding matrices in Grassmannian manifolds with different metrics. The proposed expansion-compression algorithm (ECA) is practical, simple and produces efficient packings without the need for a sophisticated initialization.

2013 Seventh International Conference on Next Generation Mobile Apps, Services and Technologies, 2013In this paper, we present a codebook designing of power loading for OFDM systems. We first introduce the relation between average BER and SNR on each sub-carrier. Based on the criteria of bit error rate, codebook designing of power loading using central limit theorem is derived.
