Spectacle and Spy Stories: The 1954 Royal Commission on Espionage

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Politics &History, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Menzies government's 1954 royal commission, established to investigate Soviet espionage in Australia, is well known as the backdrop to the Labor Party split. It saw opposition leader H.V. Evatt's demise and ushered in an almost 20‐year period of Liberal Party governance.

Coding caching method for user privacy protection based on decentralization

open access: yesETRI Journal
Coded caching reduces the communication load substantially, exploiting the caches of end devices to generate multicast opportunities during the transmission phase.

Path-Based Clustering Approaches for a Hybrid Slepian-Wolf Compression and Coded Caching System

open access: yesIEEE Access
Combining caching with source coding, a hybrid content delivery system further facilitates the shift towards Information-Centric Networks. This is a promising technology heralded as the next phase in network design.

Cache‐Cache: Dans les souffles du Grand Fleuve…

open access: yesAnthropology of Consciousness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Between ventriloquism and divination, devotion and consecration, an old and sublime marine game unfolds each day, with living breaths shared in the waters of the great river. In Tadoussac, on the north shore of the St. Lawrence Estuary, at the mouth of the Saguenay, the rumor of whales has long resonated.

Fused Collapsing for Wide BVH Construction

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We propose a novel approach for constructing wide bounding volume hierarchies on the GPU by integrating a simple bottom‐up collapsing procedure within an existing binary bottom‐up BVH builder. Our approach directly constructs a wide BVH without traversing a temporary binary BVH as done by previous approaches and achieves 1.4 – 1.6 × lower ...

Encoding Occupancy in Memory Location for Efficient and Compact High‐Resolution Voxel Structures

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We encode information about geometric structure into the pointers of a sparse voxel directed acyclic graph (SVDAG). Each pointer carries information about the structure of the node it points to. Our encoding improves ray tracing performance and reduces model size in memory.

A Real‐Time Multi‐Scale Neural Representation for Complex Surface Reflectance

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent machine learning methods have significantly advanced the state of the art in the classic problem of representing surface appearance over angle, space, and scale. The models tend, however, to be relatively heavy compared to traditional fixed‐function representations, making real‐time application challenging.

Variable‐Rate Texture Compression: Real‐Time Rendering with JPEG

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Although variable‐rate compressed image formats such as JPEG are widely used to efficiently encode images, they have not found their way into real‐time rendering due to special requirements such as random access to individual texels. In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of variable‐rate texture compression on modern GPUs using the ...

Real‐time by‐example texture synthesis and filtering using local statistics exchange

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Real‐time by‐example texture synthesis is used in interactive virtual worlds to generate the appearance of an unbounded surface from an exemplar texture with as few repetitions as possible. Currently, leading real‐time methods rely on a tiling and blending scheme which is known to synthesize well texture patterns with little spatial ...

Coded Caching Scheme for Multiaccess Cache-Assisted Partially Connected Linear Network via Multi-Antenna Placement Delivery Array

open access: yesEntropy
In the traditional (K,L,MT,MU,N) partially connected linear network, a central server stores a library of N files and connects to K+L−1 transmitters, each equipped with a cache of size MT.
