Absorptive Coding Metasurface With Ultrawideband Backscattering Reduction
In this letter, a new absorptive coding metasurface with a triple-layer topology is proposed to reduce the backscattering in an ultrawide band by combining absorption and diffusion simultaneously. Two separate layers for the coding metasurface and absorber are designed to primarily reduce the high- and low-frequency backscattering.

Coding Piezoelectric Metasurfaces
Advanced Functional Materials, 2022AbstractThe manipulation of acoustic waves plays an important role in a wide range of applications. Currently, acoustic wave manipulation typically relies on either acoustic metasurfaces or phased array transducers. The elements of traditional metasurfaces are usually designed with complex artificial structures and limited by the additive manufacturing

Coding acoustic metasurfaces can combine simple logical bits to acquire sophisticated functions in wave control. The acoustic logical bits can achieve a phase difference of exactly π and a perfect match of the amplitudes for the transmitted waves. By programming the coding sequences, acoustic metasurfaces with various functions, including creating ...

A Transmissive Coding Metasurface
2019 Cross Strait Quad-Regional Radio Science and Wireless Technology Conference (CSQRWC), 2019A transmissive metasurface is proposed in this paper. The metasurface consists of three substrates gaped by air, where the same metallic slot ring is attached to each substrate respectively. To facilitate the dynamic control of the transmission coefficient, the varactor diodes are employed across the slots in the element. By changing the biasing states

Actively tunable terahertz coding metasurfaces
Optics Communications, 2020Abstract Lately, programmable metasurfaces have been proposed by adding a PIN diode between two metallic patches in microwave region. However, the pin-diode switches can only operate at relatively lower frequencies (i 60 GHz), the conventional electronic method of device design used in the microwave band cannot easily be extended to the terahertz ...

A low scattering coding metasurface
2015 IEEE 4th Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation (APCAP), 2015Low scattering surfaces made of subwavelength structures are of broad interest in practical engineering in recent years. In this paper we investigate theoretically and experimentally the coding metasurface for cloaking applications. A 1-bit and 2-bit metasurface with two/four phase states has been considered in this design, resulting in two/four kinds ...

Shared-aperture Multifunctional Coding Metasurface
2020 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP), 2020Shared-aperture metasurface will certainly be a hot point as the rapid development of radar applications. Here we propose a shared-aperture multifunctional transmission metasurface. Coded unit cells with eight phase states of 0, π/4, π/2, 3π/4, n, 5π/4, 3π/2 and 7π/4 are employed to form the shared-aperture metasurface with proper arrangement.
