This document lists (a) every country in the eventual V-Dem database, (b) the years for which we have collect data or plan to collect data (in parentheses next to the entry); (c) the polities that comprise each country’s 20th century history (even if falling outside the time-period that we wish to code); and (d) the borders of each country (wherever ...

Computing Linear Codes and Unitals
Designs, Codes and Cryptography, 1998A unital on \(q^3+1\) points is a 2-\((q^3+1,q+1,1)\) design. The Ree unital \(R(q)\) on \(q^3+1\) points for \(q=3^{2m+1}\), \(m\geq 0\) is a design invariant under the Ree group. In 1981, Andries Brouwer constructed 138 nonisomorphic 2-\((28,42,1)\) designs and made the conjecture that the Ree unital \(R(3)\) is characterized by the fact that its ...

Near-Perfect Codes for Binary-Coded Radix-r Arithmetic Units
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1983Summary: This paper considers AN arithmetic codes with radix \(r > 2\) and binary-coded digits (BCr) using weights. The error-correcting capability of the AN codes is single bit within any BCr digit, that is, the corrected errors are of the form \(\pm w_ir^j\) where \(w_i\) are the weights of the BCr code.

Whereas a programming language is defined by textual syntax and semantics, the Unit Model has a visual form that permits more concentrated focus on the semantics of the program being built. The Unit Modeler environment positions the Information Unit Model squarely in the dataflow programming paradigm, enabling manipulation via point, click, and drag ...
