Bounds on Texture Coefficients

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2003
The orientation distribution function (ODF) is expanded in terms of generalized spherical harmonics and bounds on the resulting texture coefficients are derived. A necessary and sufficient condition for satisfaction of the normalization property of the ODF is also provided. These results are of significance in, for example, microstructural optimization

Coefficient bounds for p-valent functions

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2007
Sharp bounds for \(|a_{p+2}-\mu a^2_{p+1}|\) and \(|a_{p+3}|\) and \(|a_{p+3}|\) are derived for certain \(p\)-valent analytic functions. These are applied to obtain Fekete-Szegő like inequalities for several classes of functions defined by convolution.

NORMAL FUNCTIONS WITH BOUNDED COEFFICIENTS

Analysis, 1983
In an earlier work [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 85, 335-341 (1982; Zbl 0492.30025)] the author had proven that if \(\{a_ n\}\) is a bounded monotone sequence of real numbers, or if \(\sum | a_ n-a_{n-1}|

Upper bounds for material coefficients

Physics Letters A, 1973
Abstract Upper bounds for the piezo-electric, piezomagnetic, pyro-electric, pyromagnetic and two other coefficients are derived from the requirement of thermodynamic stability.

Bounds on Effective Coefficients

2009
I mentioned the use of symmetries for showing that the effective conductivity of a checkerboard is isotropic, or simply diagonal in the Mortola–Steffe conjecture; it follows from using mirror symmetries in Lemma 21.1.

Bounds to dispersion energy coefficients

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1973
Starting from the second-order perturbation energy expression and utilizing inner projection and operator inequalities techniques, easy to evaluate expressions for the bounds to dispersion energy coefficients are obtained in terms of ground state sum rule values of the separated atoms for two sets of basis functions.

Coefficients of Functions with Bounded Boundary Rotation

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1969
For fixed k ≧ 2, let Vk denote the class of normalized analytic functionssuch that z ∈ E = {z; |z| <1} are regular and have f′(0) = l,f′(z) ≠ 0, and1Let Sk be the subclass of Vk whose members f(z) are univalent in E. It was pointed out by Paatero (4) that Vk coincides with Sk whenever 2 ≦ k ≦ 4. Later Rényi (5) showed that in this case, f(z) ∈ Sk is

Confidence bounds for the adjustment coefficient

Advances in Applied Probability, 1996
Let?(u)be the probability of eventual ruin in the classical Sparre Andersen model of risk theory if the initial risk reserve isu.For a large class of such models?(u)behaves asymptotically like a multiple of exp(–Ru)whereRis the adjustment coefficient;Rdepends on the premium income rate, the claim size distribution and the distribution of the time ...
