Estimation of the intraclass correlation coefficient

Annals of Human Genetics, 1993
SummaryWhen families have different numbers of offspring, the maximum likelihood procedure for estimating the intraclass correlation is iterative, requiring considerable computation. Occasionally, the iterations do not even converge. To overcome this difficulty, several noniterative estimators have been proposed by Smith (1956). However, to choose from

Estimating the Polyserial Correlation Coefficient

Psychometrika, 1996
We develop simple noniterative estimators of the polyserial correlation coefficient. A general relationship between the polyserial correlation and the point polyserial correlation is exploited to give extensions of Pearson's, Brogden's, and Lord's biserial estimators to the multicategory setting.

Robust Estimation of Road Frictional Coefficient

IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2011
Vehicle active safety systems stabilize the vehicle by controlling tire forces. They work well only when the commanded tire forces are within the friction limit. Therefore, knowledge of the tire/road friction is important to improve the performance of vehicle active safety systems.

Estimates for Coefficients of L-Functions. IV

American Journal of Mathematics, 1992
[Part III, cf. Théorie des nombres, Sémin., Paris/Fr. 1989-90, Prog. Math. 102, 113-120 (1992; Zbl 0763.11024)] The present paper is a continuation of the authors' previous work on estimates for the coefficients of ordinary Dirichlet series satisfying a standard functional equation.

Nonparametric Interval Estimators for the Coefficient of Variation

The International Journal of Biostatistics, 2018
Abstract The coefficient of variation (CV) is a widely used scaleless measure of variability in many disciplines. However the inference for the CV is limited to parametric methods or standard bootstrap. In this paper we propose two nonparametric methods aiming to construct confidence intervals for the coefficient of variation.

The Aliasing Effect in Coefficients Estimation

1991
Following the involvement of the Istituto di Topografia, Fotogrammetria and Geofisica of the Politecnico di Milano in the ESA study concerning the Aristoteles mission (✸) requirements and results, the authors have chosen as their specific scientific goal the pursuit of a better knowledge of a global model of the gravity field, in terms of the ...

POINT ESTIMATION OF THE COEFFICIENT OF DETERMINATION

Statistics & Risk Modeling, 2001
Summary: We consider a decision-theoretic approach to the problem of point estimation of a coefficient of determination based on a random sample generated by a \(p\)-variate normal distribution. First, we evaluate the performance of the mle and the adjusted mle which are both widely used. We establish the inadmissibility of the mle when the dimension \(
