Two new dimorphic genera and species of soft coral (Coelenterata: Octocorallia: Nidaliidae)
, 2016We describe two new dimorphic genera and species of Nidaliidae with some similarities to the genus Nidaliopsis Kukenthal, 1906. One was collected at Heard Island in the Southern Ocean and is unusual in that it has siphonozooids with calyces, and the ...

Coelenterata (Hohltiere), Cnidaria (Nesseltiere) [PDF]

Immunoincompatibility Reactions in Corals (Coelenterata)
1975Immunorecognition of allogeneic tissue followed by incompatibility reactions now appears characteristic of the Coelenterata or Cnidaria. Indeed, allogeneic incompatibility has been described in controlled experiments with colonial hydroids (1, 2), anthozoans (3), gorgonians (4) and reef-building corals (5).

Octocorals (order Alcyonacea) from the tropical eastern Pacific have been largely ignored in coral reef studies, with the exception of recent taxonomic reviews. This study is the first to examine the population dynamics of 10 shallow water species in six

Australian Octocorallia (Coelenterata).
Marine and Freshwater Research, 1977This paper presents a taxonomic treatment of four Australian collections of octocorals belonging to the orders Stolonifera, Telestacea, and Alcyonacea. The four collections are located in the Australian Museum, Sydney, the Department of Fisheries, Adelaide, the National Museum of Victoria, Melbourne, and the Fisheries Laboratory, Queensland Fisheries ...

Two new septate junctions in the phylum coelenterata
Journal of Cell Science, 1980ABSTRACT Freeze-fracture of fixed and unfixed tissue, lanthanum tracer and conventional thin-section studies have revealed 2 new types of septate junction in the class Anthozoa, phylum Coelenterata. These new junctions have the 15−18-nm intercellular spacing of all other described septate junctions and are found around the apical ...

Some Octocorallia (Coelenterata) from Australia
Marine and Freshwater Research, 1977Two new species of octocorals, Morchellana tixierae, sp. nov., and Solenocaulon grandis, sp. nov., are described. The species were amongst specimens collected from Bowling Green Bay, near Townsville, Queensland. Eight previously described species were also identified among the collected specimens.

Cellular Defense Systems of the Coelenterata
1982The phylum Coelenterata is composed of three classes: Hydrozoa (e.g., Hydra, hydroids), Scyphozoa (the true jellyfish), and Anthozoa (e.g., sea anemones, sea fans, and corals). Although some, such as the corals and sea whips, are truly sessile, most coelenterates are capable of some form of movement, ranging from creeping on a pedal disc and burrowing ...
