A variational approach to the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture

open access: yes, 2020
We give a variational proof of a version of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for twisted K\"ahler-Einstein currents, and use this to express the greatest (twisted) Ricci lower bound in terms of a purely algebro-geometric stability threshold.

Remarks on Input-to-State Stability and Non-Coercive Lyapunov Functions [PDF]

open access: yes2018 IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2018
We consider an abstract class of infinite-dimensional dynamical systems with inputs. For this class the significance of noncoercive Lyapunov functions is analyzed. It is shown that the existence of such Lyapunov functions implies integral input-to-integral state stability. Assuming further regularity it is possible to conclude input-to-state stability.

Coercive polynomials: stability, order of growth, and Newton polytopes

open access: yesOptimization, 2018
AbstractIn this article we introduce a stability concept for the coercivity of multivariate polynomials . In particular, we consider perturbations of f by polynomials up to the so-called degree of stable coercivity, and we analyze this stability concept in terms of the corresponding Newton polytopes at infinity.

Crystal growth and property characterization for PIN–PMN–PT ternary piezoelectric crystals [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Dielectrics, 2014
Binary piezoelectric crystal Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–PbTiO3 (PMN–PT) has excellent dielectric and piezoelectric properties, which has led to the commercialization for medical ultrasound imaging.

Structural stability of bang-bang trajectories with a double switching time in the minimum time problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we consider the problem of structural stability of strong local optimisers for the minimum time problem in the case when the nominal problem has a bang-bang strongly local optimal control which exhibits a double ...

Microstructure and magnetism of Ga+-irradiated IrMn-based spin-valve multilayered film

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
An IrMn top-nailed spin-valve multilayer film was synthesized using direct-current magnetron sputtering on a naturally oxidized silicon substrate. The multilayered film microstructure and magnetism were analyzed using x-ray diffraction, transmission, and

Ferroelectric Orthorhombic ZrO2 Thin Films Achieved Through Nanosecond Laser Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
A new approach for the stabilization of the ferroelectric orthorhombic ZrO2 films is demonstrated through nanosecond laser annealing (NLA) of as‐deposited Si/SiOx/W(14 nm)/ZrO2(8 nm)/W(22 nm), grown by ion beam sputtering at low temperatures.

Effect of sintering temperature on magnetoelectric coupling in 0.2Ni0.9Zn0.1Fe2O4-0.8Ba0.9Sr0.1TiO3 composite ceramics [PDF]

open access: yesProcessing and Application of Ceramics, 2020
Magnetoelectric composites have attracted much attention due to their intriguing physical properties and potential applications. They might have strong magnetoelectric coupling effect above room temperature, but it mainly depends on the sintering ...

On cell problems for Hamilton-Jacobi equations with non-coercive Hamiltonians and its application to homogenization problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study a cell problem arising in homogenization for a Hamilton-Jacobi equation whose Hamiltonian is not coercive. We introduce a generalized notion of effective Hamiltonians by approximating the equation and characterize the solvability of the cell ...

Synthesis and characterization of core-shell structure silica-coated Fe29.5Ni70.5 nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In view of potential applications of magnetic particles in biomedicine and electromagnetic devices, we made use of the classical Stober method base-catalysed hydrolysis and condensation of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) to encapsulate FeNi nanoparticles within
