Active cogging torque construction by the weld slot design in a positioning servo system
The cogging torque is usually considered as an adverse effect of the PM machine servo system. This paper presents a new perspective that the cogging torque can be exploited in many practical situations as long as the speed ripple can be suppressed.

Investigation of the Factors Affecting the Cogging Torque of a Permanent Magnet Brushed DC Motor
Cogging torque disadvantages permanent magnet DC motors (PMDC), creating vibration and audible noises. This research investigates the factors affecting the cogging torque of a permanent magnet-brushed DC motor used to operate automobile windshield ...

Hybrid Approach Based On Tensor Decomposition For Model Order Reduction Applied To Motor Diagnosis
A hybrid tensor‐decomposition‐based model order reduction approach is applied to surrogate modeling of permanent magnet synchronous motors, considering static eccentricity and various operating conditions. ABSTRACT Accurate and efficient diagnosis of motor eccentricity faults is crucial for the reliable operation of electric machines.

This study proposes a hybrid topology optimisation framework for permanent magnet motors that integrates the Boolean Geometry Projection (BGP) method with a Gaussian‐based ON‐OFF method. The proposed approach automatically generates manufacturable and diverse magnet structures such as U‐, V‐ and double V‐shapes, achieving higher average torque and ...

Permanent magnet generators for renewable energy devices with wide speed range and pulsating power delivery [PDF]
This paper describes the design of a direct-drive permanent-magnet generator for use in a novel sea-wave electrical generator. The basic system is briefly described and the target specification derived from the device and the wave tank performance.

Comparative Analysis of Electromagnetic Performance of PM and HTS Excited Flux Switching Machines
We introduce and validate an innovative generator topology of a flux‐switching machine (FSM) utilising high‐temperature superconducting (HTS) stator‐side field coils (HTS‐FSM). The results demonstrate that the electromagnetic performance of the HTS‐FSM offers a viable, sustainable and geopolitically secure foundation for the development of next ...

Cogging Torque Reduction Design for CVVT Using Response Surface Methodology
This paper deals with the design process for an outer-rotor-type surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) used in continuous variable valve timing (CVVT) systems in automobiles with internal combustion engines. When the same size, outer-rotor-type SPMSMs generate larger torque and more stable than inner-rotor-type SPMSMs.
