The study evaluated the function and therapeutic implications of PRAME in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The findings demonstrate that PRAME impairs keratinocyte differentiation pathways. Furthermore, PRAME impairs anticancer response to retinoid compounds in BCC and SCC cells.

Abstract Purpose To evaluate the impact of various noise reduction algorithms and template matching parameters on the accuracy of markerless tumor tracking (MTT) using dual‐energy (DE) imaging. Methods A Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator was used to acquire a series of alternating 60 and 120 kVp images (over a 180° arc) using fast kV switching, on ...

Thinking Materially: Cognition as Extended and Enacted [PDF]
Human cognition is extended and enacted. Drawing the boundaries of cognition to include the resources and attributes of the body and materiality allows an examination of how these components interact with the brain as a system, especially over cultural ...

Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Q fever outbreak in the terraced vineyards of Lavaux, Switzerland
Abstract Coxiella burnetii infection (Q fever) is a widespread zoonosis with low endemicity in Switzerland, therefore no mandatory public report was required. A cluster of initially ten human cases of acute Q fever infections characterized by prolonged fever, asthenia and mild hepatitis occurred in 2012 in the terraced vineyard of Lavaux ...

Self-Cognition in Large Language Models: An Exploratory Study [PDF]
While Large Language Models (LLMs) have achieved remarkable success across various applications, they also raise concerns regarding self-cognition. In this paper, we perform a pioneering study to explore self-cognition in LLMs. Specifically, we first construct a pool of self-cognition instruction prompts to evaluate where an LLM exhibits self-cognition

The Representation of Hercules. Ockham's Critique of Species [PDF]
This paper reconsiders Ockham's critique of the species theory of cognition. As Ockham understands this theory, it says that the direct objects of cognition are mental representations, or species.

TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.
