Cooperation and Cognitive Radio [PDF]

open access: yes2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007
Cooperation is increasingly regarded as a key technology for tackling the challenges of a practical implementation of cognitive radio. In this paper, we first give a brief overview of the envisioned applications of cooperative technology to cognitive radio, distinguishing among cooperative sensing for detection of the primary activity, cooperative ...

On the Statistics of Cognitive Radio Capacity in Shadowing and Fast Fading Environments (Journal Version)

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we consider the capacity of the cognitive radio channel in different fading environments under a low interference regime. First we derive the probability that the low interference regime holds under shadow fading as well as Rayleigh and ...

A KNN Learning Algorithm for Collusion-Resistant Spectrum Auction in Small Cell Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Existing spectrum auction algorithms rarely consider the collusion-resistant, which decreases the spectrum allocation efficiency. In this paper, we propose a collusion-resistant spectrum auction algorithm based on K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) learning in ...

Repairing Confident Information Coverage Holes for Big Data Collection in Large-Scale Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The quality of service (QoS) and lifetime of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are severely degraded by coverage holes generated by random deployment or battery exhaustion of sensors. This work firstly introduces a novel confident information coverage CIC)

Cognitive radio networks

open access: yes2012 9th International Conference on Communications (COMM), 2012
Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs) are emerging as a solution to increase the spectrum utilization by using unused or less used spectrum in radio environments. The basic idea is to allow unlicensed users access to licensed spectrum, under the condition that the interference perceived by the licensed users is minimal.

Sliding Window Spectrum Sensing for Full-Duplex Cognitive Radios with Low Access-Latency

open access: yes, 2016
In a cognitive radio system the failure of secondary user (SU) transceivers to promptly vacate the channel can introduce significant access-latency for primary or high-priority users (PU).

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Eigenvalue Based Detection by Combining Eigenvector-Correlated Signal in Low SNR Environment

open access: yesIET Signal Processing
Eigenvalue detection is extensively utilized in numerous applications, including spectrum sensing in cognitive radio. However, the characteristics of the Tracy–Widom (TW2) distribution and its lack of accurate close-form expression limit the detection ...

Investigation of 3 dB Optical Intensity Spot Radius of Laser Beam under Scattering Underwater Channel

open access: yesSensors, 2020
An important step in the design of receiver aperture and optimal spacing of the diversity scheme for an underwater laser communication system is to accurately characterize the two-dimensional (2D) spatial distribution of laser beam intensity.
