From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

Cognitive Radio Wireless Sensor Networks: Applications, Challenges and Research Trends

open access: yesSensors, 2013
A cognitive radio wireless sensor network is one of the candidate areas where cognitive techniques can be used for opportunistic spectrum access. Research in this area is still in its infancy, but it is progressing rapidly.

Impact of Power Allocation and Antenna Directivity in the Capacity of a Multiuser Cognitive Ad Hoc Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper studies the benefits that power control and antenna directivity can bring to the capacity of a multiuser cognitive radio network. The main objective is to optimize the secondary network sum rate under the capacity constraint of the primary ...

Multi‐Site Transfer Classification of Major Depressive Disorder: An fMRI Study in 3335 Subjects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study proposes graph convolution network with sparse pooling to learn the hierarchical features of brain graph for MDD classification. Experiment is done on multi‐site fMRI samples (3335 subjects, the largest functional dataset of MDD to date) and transfer learning is applied, achieving an average accuracy of 70.14%.

Cognitive radio networks

open access: yesACM SIGCOMM Computer Communication Review, 2013
A large volume of research has been conducted in the cognitive radio (CR) area the last decade. However, the deployment of a commercial CR network is yet to emerge. A large portion of the existing literature does not build on real world scenarios, hence, neglecting various important aspects of commercial telecommunication networks.

Midbrain PAG Astrocytes Modulate Mouse Defensive and Panic‐Like Behaviors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Astrocytes in the midbrain periaqueductal gray (PAG) dynamically encode threat intensity and shape defensive action selection in mice. Real‐time Ca2+ imaging reveals robust astrocytic activation during predator odor and CO2 exposure. Aberrant astrocytic Ca2+ overactivation disrupts goal‐directed escape, biases behavior toward freezing, and induces ...

Secure mmWave Communications in Cognitive Radio Networks

open access: yes, 2019
In this letter, the secrecy performance in cognitive radio networks (CRNs) over fluctuating two-ray (FTR) channels, which is used to model the millimetre wave channel, is investigated in terms of the secrecy outage probability (SOP).

Modifying Glucose Metabolism Reverses Memory Defects of Alzheimer's Disease Model at Late Stages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using spatial transcriptomics, we show that ferul enanthate (SL‐ZF‐01) reverses episodic‐like memory deficits in aged, but not young, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) mice. SL restores glucose metabolism and Glucose Transporter 1/3 expression via an ‘Aging‐AD‐Rescue’ pattern, rescuing deficits seen in aged AD mice.
