AbstractThis target article presents a new computational theory of explanatory coherence that applies to the acceptance and rejection of scientific hypotheses as well as to reasoning in everyday life. The theory consists of seven principles that establish relations of local coherence between a hypothesis and other propositions.

Coherent and thermal coherent state
Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1989The characterization of coherent states as the quantum states that split into two uncorrelated beams is considered. The characterization leads to the study of coherent states at finite temperature—thermal coherent states (TCS’s). These TCS’s are defined within the formalism of thermo field dynamics (TFD).

Coherent detection of partially coherent sources
Optics Letters, 1980The mean square of the beating component of the photodetector output current of a coherent optical or infrared receiver, illuminated by partially coherent quasi-monochromatic radiation, is expressed in terms of the mutual intensity functions of the signal and local reference fields on the detector’s active surface.

Coherent amplified optical coherence tomography
SPIE Proceedings, 2007A technique to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of a high speed 1300 nm swept source optical coherence tomography (SSOCT) system was demonstrated. A semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) was employed in the sample arm to coherently amplify the weak light back-scattered from sample tissue without increasing laser power illuminated on the sample ...

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a high-resolution imaging method for in vivo investigation of the human skin. In cross-sectional images of several millimeters length with a penetration depth of the light signal into deeper parts of the dermis, architectural details of the upper skin layers can be assessed and monitored non-invasively over time ...
