Multivariate Statistical Modeling of Retinal Optical Coherence Tomography
IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2020In this paper a new statistical multivariate model for retinal Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) B-scans is proposed. Due to the layered structure of OCT images, there is a horizontal dependency between adjacent pixels at specific distances, which led us to propose a more accurate multivariate statistical model to be employed in OCT processing ...

Speckle statistics in optical coherence tomography
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2005The two previously reported calculations of the amplitude distribution of speckles in optical coherence tomography, each based on a different mathematical formulation, yield different results. We show that a modification of an initial assumption in one of the formulations leads to equivalent results.

Statistics and reduction of speckle in optical coherence tomography
Optics Letters, 2000Studies have shown that optical coherence tomography (OCT) is useful in imaging microscopic structures through highly scattering media. Because spatially coherent light is used in OCT, speckle in the reconstructed image is unavoidable, resulting in degradation of the quality of the OCT images and impaired ability to differentiate subsurface structures.

Statistical Modeling of Retinal Optical Coherence Tomography
IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2016In this paper, a new model for retinal Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) images is proposed. This statistical model is based on introducing a nonlinear Gaussianization transform to convert the probability distribution function (pdf) of each OCT intra-retinal layer to a Gaussian distribution.

Statistically enhanced optical coherence tomography
CLEO/Europe. 2005 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe, 2005., 2006In this paper we derive a reconstruction method based on the maximum-likelihood approach. The measured system is represented here by a sequence of thin parallel layers parametrized by their respective thicknesses and indexes of refraction. Assuming ideal sharp response of the OCT setup, the parameters can be easily calculated from measured amplitude ...

Optical-coherence tomography of a dense tissue: statistics of attenuation and backscattering
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1994This paper addresses fundamental issues that underlie the interpretation of images acquired from turbid tissues by optical-coherence tomography (OCT). The attenuation and backscattering properties of freshly excised rat arteries and their dependence on the focusing and collection optics of the OCT system were measured at two wavelengths in the near ...

Even and odd q-coherent states and their optical statistics properties
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1993Summary: We construct explicitly even and odd \(q\)-coherent states \((qCSs)\), which are proved to form a representation of the quantum Heisenberg-Weyl algebra, and study their properties. It is shown that optical statistics properties of the even and odd \(qCSs\) are very different.

A statistical model of retinal optical coherence tomography image data
2011 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2011Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an important mode of biomedical imaging for the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. Here we report on the construction of a synthetic retinal OCT image data set that may be used for quantitative analysis of image processing methods.
