Levels of text analysis in the hierarchy of linguistic units [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Social Sciences, 2020
Language is envisioned as an organic system of linguistic units. There are 7 linguistic units. The text is at the top of the syntactic hierarchy. It is best regarded as a semantic unit.

Non-Local Advantage of Quantum Coherence

open access: yes, 2016
A bipartite state is said to be steerable if and only if it does not have a single system description, i.e., the bipartite state cannot be explained by a local hidden state model.

The Study of Goldstone Modes in $\nu$=2 Bilayer Quantum Hall Systems

open access: yes, 2012
At the filling factor $\nu$=2, the bilayer quantum Hall system has three phases, the spin-ferromagnet phase, the spin singlet phase and the canted antiferromagnet (CAF) phase, depending on the relative strength between the Zeeman energy and interlayer ...

Quantum-coherent mixtures of causal relations

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
AbstractUnderstanding the causal influences that hold among parts of a system is critical both to explaining that system’s natural behaviour and to controlling it through targeted interventions. In a quantum world, understanding causal relations is equally important, but the set of possibilities is far richer. The two basic ways in which a pair of time-

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

An Investigation of the Coherence of Oral Narratives: Associations With Mental Health, Social Support and the Coherence of Written Narratives

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2021
Research QuestionsIn a first research question, we examined whether the relations that are generally observed between the coherence of written autobiographical narratives and outcomes of mental health and social support, can be replicated for the ...

NFDI MatWerk Ontology (MWO): A BFO‐Compliant Ontology for Research Data Management in Materials Science and Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the NFDI‐MatWerk Ontology (MWO), a Basic Formal Ontology‐based framework for interoperable research data management in materials science and engineering (MSE). Covering consortium structures, research data management resources, services, and instruments, MWO enables semantic integration, Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and ...

Age-related changes in EEG coherence

open access: yesNeurologia i Neurochirurgia Polska, 2014
Coherence changes can reflect the pathophysiological processes involved in human ageing. We conducted a retrospective population study that sought to analyze the age-related changes in EEG coherence in a group of 17,722 healthy professional drivers. The EEGs were obtained using a standard 10-20 electrode configuration on the scalp.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Fluctuation Relations for Current Components in Mesoscopic Electric Circuits

open access: yes, 2011
We present a new class of fluctuation relations, to which we will refer as Fluctuation Relations for Current Components (FRCCs). FRCCs can be used to estimate system parameters when complete information about nonequilibrium many-body electron ...
