Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Coherent and incoherent beam combination using thick holographic substrates
We present a mathematical model of coherent and incoherent beam combination in a thick hologram. We also derive the formulae relating the read and write angles to the read and write wavelengths for the combiner.

We demonstrate a passive coherent beam combination of two nanosecond amplifiers by using an all-optical feedback loop. An electro-optic amplitude modulator is utilized to tune the pulse width and the pulse repetition frequency of combined laser pulse ...

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Optical phased array receiver with mode diversity and coherent combination
Optical phased arrays (OPAs) hold significant promise for low-cost, solid-state beam steering in LiDAR and free-space optical (FSO) communications. The field of view (FOV) is one of the key performance metrics in OPA for both optical beam transmitting ...

Tailoring coherent beam combined laser pulse trains for high peak and average power applications
Laser systems based on coherent beam combination (CBC) that rely on tiled pupil architecture intrinsically carry digital capabilities independently applicable to all three essential characteristics of a laser pulse: amplitude, phase and polarization ...

Tiled aperture coherent beam combination of 2 μm fiber lasers
Exceeding the multi-kW power level with thulium-doped fiber lasers has not been achieved using a single thulium-doped fiber laser. One solution to overcome this limit is the coherent beam combination.

Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...
