Analysis of Optical Bottle Generation by Coherent Beam Combining

open access: yesOptics Express
The study evaluates the feasibility of generating a closed optical trap (“optical bottle”) using coherent beam combining. A semi-analytical model, based on paraxial wave optics and truncated Gaussian beam approximation, was employed. Proposed configurations include: (1) simple bifocal tilt, (2) bifocal tilt + polarization switching, (3) bifocal tilt +

Spatially‐Resolved Coherence of Organic Molecular Spins at Room‐Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular spin qubits are emerging as a promising quantum sensing technology. This paper studies the variation in coherence and sensitivity in both crystalline and thin‐film samples by combining microscopy and room temperature optically detected coherent control.

Engineering of Crystallinity to Amplify Chiroptical Activity of TiO2 Nanohelices for Enhancing Dissymmetric Circularly Polarized Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Enhancing crystallinity through thermal annealing leads to amplifying the chiroptical activity of TiO2 nanohelices (NHs) fabricated by glancing angle deposition, ascribed to the suppression of charge trapping. The enhanced chiroptical activity can be converted into pronounced dissymmetric photocatalytic kinetics of circularly polarized photocatalysis ...

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

Experimental Demonstration and Characterization of a Non-Mode Selective (De)Multiplexer Using Multi-Plane Light Converter (MPLC)

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
We experimentally demonstrate the use of a multi-plane light converter (MPLC) as a non-mode selective (de)multiplexer for converting Hermite-Gaussian (HG) modes into a Hadamard matrix of fundamental Gaussian spots and vice versa.

Plasmonic Enhancement of Fluorescence and Protein Dynamics in Living Mammalian Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates plasmonic enhancement of the function of fluorescent voltage sensing proteins (genetically encoded voltage indicators, (GEVIs), QuasAr6) in live mammalian cells. Coupling to plasmonic nanoparticles does not just increase fluorescence, but influences the protein photocycle, creating a hybrid sensor with its response speed to ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Design and Experimental Research of Vortex Beam Mixer

open access: yesPhotonics
Based on the birefringence phenomenon of vortex beam in uniaxial crystals for optical path design, yttrium vanadate crystals and waveplates are used to realize coherent mixing of vortex beam.

Directional Flow of Confined Polaritons in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
CrSBr, a layered magnetic semiconductor, naturally channels self‐hybridized excitonpolaritons into highly directional flow. Its intrinsic optical anisotropy, high refractive index, and strong lightmatter coupling enable long‐range guided modes along the a‐axis, with propagation lengths set by their excitonphoton admixture.

Enhanced Supermode Stability in Weakly Anti-Guided Dual-Cavity Photonic Crystal VCSEL Arrays

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
We report on 940 nm dual-cavity photonic crystal vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays fabricated at a commercial foundry. These arrays leverage an anti-guided design enabled by reduced electrical resistance between optically coupled ...
