Coherent beam combining with micro-lens arrays [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2020
A novel, to the best of our knowledge, concept for coherent beam combining is presented based on a simple setup with micro-lens arrays. These standard components are used in a proof-of-principle experiment for both coherent beam splitting and a combination of 5 × 5 beams. Here a combination efficiency above 90% is achieved.

The standard quantum limit of coherent beam combining [PDF]

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
Coherent beam combining refers to the process of generating a bright output beam by merging independent input beams of individually diffusing relative phases by locking them to each other.

Exploring five types of beam shaping using tiled-aperture coherent beam combining [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications Engineering
Coherent Beam Combination (CBC) presents a promising solution to circumvent the power-scaling limitations of High-Power Fiber Lasers (HPFLs) by spatially combining the outputs of multiple independently pumped fibres.

Coherent beam combining of optical vortices

open access: yesOptics Letters
We experimentally demonstrate the power scaling of optical vortices using the coherent beam combining technique, encompassing topological charges ranging from ℓ = 1 to ℓ = 5 realized on the basis of a Yb-doped fiber short-pulsed laser system. The combining efficiency varies from 83.2 to 96.9% depending on the topological charge and beam pattern quality

Discussion on Piston-Type Phase Ambiguity in a Coherent Beam Combining System

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
Coherent beam combining (CBC) with closely arranged centrosymmetric arrays is a promising way to obtain a high-brightness laser. An essential task in CBC is to actively control the piston phases of the input beams, maintaining the correct phasing to ...

Coherent beam combining of two all-PM thulium-doped fiber chirped pulse amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers of Optoelectronics
In this paper, we report a coherent beam combining (CBC) system that involves two thulium-doped all-polarization maintaining (PM) fiber chirped pulse amplifiers.

Coherent Beam Combining Using an Internally Sensed Optical Phased Array of Frequency-Offset Phase Locked Lasers

open access: yesPhotonics, 2020
Coherent beam combining can be used to scale optical power and enable mechanism-free beam steering using an optical phased array. Coherently combining multiple free-running lasers in a leader-follower laser configuration is challenging due to the need to

Coherent beam combining of optical vortices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
We experimentally demonstrate the power scaling of optical vortices by the coherent beam combining, encompassing topological charges ranging from l=1 to l=5 realized on the basis of a Yb-doped fiber short-pulsed laser system. The combining efficiency varies from 83.2 to 96.9% depending on the topological charge and beam pattern quality generated by the

Atmospheric Turbulence Effects on the Performance of Orbital Angular Momentum Multiplexed Free-Space Optical Links Using Coherent Beam Combining

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Atmospheric effects including absorption and scattering, and turbulence could introduce signal power loss and severe mode crosstalk for the orbital angular momentum (OAM)-based free-space optical communication (FSOC).
