Physics Based Phase Control in Coherent Beam Combining Systems
Journal of Lightwave TechnologyIn the realm of high-power lasers, coherent beam combining has become a scalable and dependable technology. However, achieving phase synchronization in a coherent beam-combining (CBC) system is a significant challenge.

Active coherent beam combining of diode lasers
Optics Letters, 2011We have demonstrated active coherent beam combination (CBC) of up to 218 semiconductor amplifiers with 38.5 W cw output using up to eleven one-dimensional 21-element individually addressable diode amplifier arrays operating at 960 nm. The amplifier array elements are slab-coupled-optical-waveguide semiconductor amplifiers (SCOWAs) set up in a master ...

Generation of arbitrary cylindrical vector beams by an all-fiber coherent beam combining system
Applied Physics LettersCylindrical vector beams (CVBs) with unique spatial polarization states have attracted great interest in recent years. However, the generation of high-power CVBs faces a significant challenge due to the limited output power of a single laser.

Coherent beam combination in barium titanate
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1988Coherent beam combination through multiple-beam self-pumped phase conjugation in BaTiO3 has been demonstrated to conjugate piston error to at least λ/10. The coupling is shown to occur by a copumping mechanism.

Quantum Limits of Coherent Beam Combining
CLEO Pacific Rim Conference, 2018Coherent beam combining refers to the process of generating a bright output beam by merging independent input beams with locked relative phases. We report the first quantum mechanical noise limit calculations for coherent beam combining and compare our results to quantum-limited amplification.

Binary coherent beam combination with mirror pairs
Applied Optics, 2002A configuration of N coated mirrors or mirror pairs is described that has the potential to coherently combine 2N single-frequency phase-locked diffraction-limited polarized optical beams to form a single diffraction-limited beam. The application to beam combination of fiber amplifiers is discussed.

Coherent beam combining of more than 100 fiber lasers
, 2020In this paper, we will demonstrate the preliminary experimental result of coherent beam combining of 107 fiber lasers, which is the largest beam numbers for CBC of fiber lasers to the best of our knowledge.

Coherent Beam Combining of Fiber Amplifiers*
Lasers Congress 2016 (ASSL, LSC, LAC), 2016Beam combining of laser arrays has become increasing viable over the past decade as the community has developed a better understanding of the requirements imposed by beam combining. Coherent beam combining (CBC) enables scaling the brightness by large amounts, in principle by as much as the number of elements.
