Direct Demodulation of Optical BPSK/QPSK Signals without Digital Signal Processing [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2018
We experimentally demonstrate the coherent detection of 5-Gbd/s BPSK/QPSK signal by direct phase compensation of the phase noise without using a sophisticated digital signal processing algorithm.

Extrusion Bioprinting for Wound Healing: Innovations in Functionalized Bioinks and Bioprinting Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Extrusion‐based bioprinting (EBB) has emerged as a versatile biofabrication platform capable of precisely depositing bioinks composed of biomaterials, cells, and bioactive agents to generate patient‐specific, biomimetic skin constructs. This paper presents a state‐of‐the‐art and forward‐looking overview of EBB for wound healing, encompassing printing ...

Differential Coherent Code Acquisition in the Multiple Transmit/Receive Antenna Aided DS-CDMA Downlink

open access: yes, 2006
In this contribution we investigate both differentially coherent and noncoherent code acquisition schemes in the multiple transmit/receive antenna aided DS-CDMA downlink, when communicating over uncorrelated Rayleigh channels.

Precise Error Performance of BPSK Modulated Coherent Terahertz Wireless LOS Links with Pointing Errors

open access: yesEntropy
One of the key advantages of terahertz (THz) communication is its potential for energy efficiency, making it an attractive option for green communication systems. Coherent THz transmission technology has recently been explored in the literature. However,

Large Faraday Rotation in Liquid Crystals With Embedded Paramagnetic Ions (Cu2+, VO2+) at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Large Faraday rotation at room temperature is observed in thin films of discotic copper (Cu2+: 3d9) and vanadyl (VO2+: 3d1) enaminoketone complexes. The large Verdet constant originates from a high density of paramagnetic centers, metal‐ligand p−d hybridization and π orbitals involved in optical transitions (identified by DFT calculations), as well as ...

Probing Near‐Field EM Fluctuations in Superparamagnetic CoFeB With NV Quantum Dephasometry

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
We non‐invasively investigate the superparamagnetic spin dynamics of a 1.1 nm CoFeB layer by probing its near‐field EM fluctuations using NV centers‐based quantum dephasometry. Our findings are further supported by theoretical modeling and SQUID‐based magnetization characterization. These results provide critical insight into the magnetization dynamics

Color Center Formation in Silicon‐On‐Insulator for On‐Chip Photonic Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Color centers in silicon have great potential as single photon sources for quantum technologies. Some of them – like the T center – also possess optically‐active spins that enable spin‐photon interfaces for generating entangled photons and multi‐spin registers. This paper explores the generation of several types of color centers in silicon for

Low Complexity Parallel Carrier Frequency Offset Estimation Based on Time-Tagged QPSK Partitioning for Coherent Free-Space Optical Communication

open access: yes
To effectively mitigate the effects of atmospheric turbulence in free space optical (FSO) communication, we propose a parallel carrier frequency offset estimation (FOE) scheme based on time-tagged QPSK partitioning (TTQP).

When Cubic is Not Isotropic: Phonon–Exciton Decoupling in CuInSnS4 Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A cubic CuInSnS4 crystal does not fully play by cubic rules. While phonons follow the average iso‐tropic lattice symmetry, the disorder‐localized excitons break away, showing strong, and reproduci‐ble polarization‐dependent emission. This work shows how intrinsic cation disorder can turn a mac‐roscopically cubic material into a source of hidden ...
