Single-Wavelength 100-Gb/s PAM-4 TDM-PON Achieving Over 32-dB Power Budget Using Simplified and Phase Insensitive Coherent Detection

European Conference on Optical Communication, 2018
We experimentally demonstrate the first single-wavelength 100-Gb/s PAM-4 TDM-PON transmission in C-band using simplified and phase-insensitive heterodyne coherent detection. Power budget of over 32 dB is achieved after 20-/40-km fiber transmission.

Coherent optical BPSK detection

IEEE Proceedings of the SOUTHEASTCON '91, 2002
Summary form only given. A coherent phase-locked synchronous oscillator (CPSO) was created by adding a feedforward and a feedback loop to the SO. An optically excited CPSO network was formed using a 4.3-GHz AVANTEK oscillator. Before the CPSO loop was formed, the oscillator was tuned near the subcarrier frequency with the DC bias in the loop filter ...

Non-Coherent Detection for Diffusive Molecular Communication Systems

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2017
We study non-coherent detection schemes for molecular communication (MC) systems with negligible inter-symbol interference that do not require knowledge of the channel state information (CSI). In particular, we first derive the optimal maximum likelihood

Multiview Detection with Shadow Transformer (and View-Coherent Data Augmentation)

ACM Multimedia, 2021
Multiview detection incorporates multiple camera views to deal with occlusions, and its central problem is multiview aggregation. Given feature map projections from multiple views onto a common ground plane, the state-of-the-art method addresses this ...

Coherent Detection Signal-to-Noise

Applied Optics, 1975
General equations are derived for the signal-to-noise ratio of a coherent (heterodyne) receiver in terms of the distribution functions of the signal and local oscillator fields and the size and shape of the detector. The optimum local oscillator field distribution is identical to the signal field distribution over the detector surface. The special case

Generalized coherence (signal detection)

ICASSP-88., International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003
The authors introduce a test for detecting the presence of a common signal on M noisy channels that generalizes a popular technique using the magnitude-squared coherence (MSC) estimate for detecting a common signal on two channels. The basis of this test is the generalized coherence estimate, a statistic involving the normalized M*M Gram matrix ...

Nonlinearity mitigation of intensity modulation and coherent detection systems.

Optics Letters, 2018
Coherent optical communication systems are still too expensive for metro and short reach networks in the near future. Coherent detection with an intensity modulator replacing a costly dual-polarization in-phase and quadrature modulator could offer a good

Coherent, Self-Coherent, and Differential Detection Systems

2011
In order to meet the ever-increasing demand in telecommunication capacity, fiberoptic communication systems have been evolving dramatically over the past decade [1, 2]. The fiberoptic communication traffic growth has been at a rate of about 2 dB per year, representing a traffic increase of a factor of 100 in 10 years [1, 2].

Efficient preamble design and digital signal processing in upstream burst-mode detection of 100G TDM coherent-PON

IEEE\/OSA Journal of Optical Communications and Networking, 2020
Coherent optics has been proved to be a promising candidate for 100 Gb/s and even beyond single-wavelength time-division multiplexing passive optical networks (TDM-PONs).

Multiresolution detection of coherent radar targets

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1997
We develop and investigate several novel multiresolution algorithms for detecting coherent radar targets embedded in clutter. These multiresolution detectors exploit the fact that prominent target scatterers interfere in a characteristic manner as resolution is changed, while multiresolution clutter signatures are random. We show, both on simulated and
