Coherence beamforming applied to velocity estimation and partially coherent signals

2015 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2015
Time-delay and phase-shift estimators are often used to track speckle signals in order to estimate parameters such as strain, displacement, and velocity. These estimators rely on the beamformed RF signal to accurately estimate time and phase shifts.

Undersea Acoustic Signal Coherence Fluctuations

OCEANS '79, 1979
This paper describes the effects of source motion and multipath propagation in the ocean on the coherence of narrowband acoustic signals at widely spaced sonar receivers. The measure used to evaluate these effects is the magnitude-squared coherence (coherence).

Coherent spectrometry with noise signals

Journal of Magnetic Resonance (1969), 1970
Abstract Coherent spectrometry with noise signals is described as Fourier transform spectrometry with deterministic signals which are samples from a stochastic process. Input-output relations needed for the processing of measured signal records are derived from the theories of linear physical systems and of sampled functions.

Coherence sensing and signal processing

Frontiers in Optics 2004/Laser Science XXII/Diffractive Optics and Micro-Optics/Optical Fabrication and Testing, 2004
Coherence measurements enable sources of radiation to be distinguished, rather than just measure power as in conventional incoherent imaging. Instruments that sample the partially coherent field are discussed with numerical algorithms to separate the fields from sources and achieve infinite depth-of-field imaging.

Iterative MUSIC: coherent signal estimation, performance analysis

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 2002
A new iterative MUSIC algorithm is proposed based on the successive cancellation idea. It can be cast as an alternative of the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm, in which the maximization step is carried out by one-dimensional MUSIC estimation.

ENSO Signal Propagation Detected by Wavelet Coherence and Mean Phase Coherence Methods

2007
We present observational evidence of the dynamic linkages between ENSO and Northern Hemisphere (NH) ice conditions over the past 135 years. Using Wavelet Transform (WT) we separate statistically significant components from time series and demonstrate significant co-variance and consistent phase differences between NH ice conditions and the Arctic ...

Digital generation of coherent sweep signals

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1990
The authors describe a digitally implemented coherent sweep generator, i.e. a sweep generator in which sweep rate, start frequency, and start phase can be specified. By carrying out a digital integration twice, using a counter and an accumulator as integrators, a quadratic phase function of a linear sweep is produced.

Coherent Signal Processing for Packet Radio

MILCOM 1982 - IEEE Military Communications Conference - Progress in Spread Spectrum Communications, 1982
An advanced demodulation technique has been devised for the Low Cost Packet Radio (LCPR) under contract to CECOM/DARPA No. DAAK 80-81-C-0213. First, a brief introduction on packet radio signal format is given, then the design of the acquisition processor is presented.
